Taylor Swift will sadly not be making an appearance in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie, despite fans theorising otherwise. The rumours first began last summer, but they really gained steam over the weekend with some fans predicting Swift would play superhero Dazzler.

It all started on Friday when Sophie Turner (who will play the young Jean Grey in the upcoming movie) tweeted out a photo of herself and Tye Sheridan (Cyclops) holding a Dazzler record, with the caption: ‘#FBF that time Cyclops and I went shopping at the mall and found our favourite singer’s album (pre 1989, of course)’.

The photo immediately caused fans to speculate that Swift would be playing Dazzler, a mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams, who is also a singer.

But as cool as that sounds, sadly it seems it’s not to be, as a source told E! News: “She's not in the film. And it's not her on the Dazzler album cover from Sophie's tweeted photo.”

Rumours that Swift would appear in the film began in July when the singer was pictured hanging out with Turner and co-star James McAvoy. But speaking to E! News shortly after the rumours began, Turner said Swift was definitely not joining the cast.

"We just went to her concert and then I guess she wanted to meet us and we really wanted to meet her so we just hung out with her for a bit,” Turner explained. “We played a couple of drinking games. It was awesome."
