Country-pop starlet Taylor Swift will be headlining this years 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' at New York's Times Square, performing live just before the famous glowing ball drops to mark the start of 2013.

The newly single Swift's performance will top off a truly remarkable year for the young singer, as it has seen her go from strength to strength, with her curent album, Red, still performing well in album charts across the globe. This week, the album knocked One Direction's Up All Night from its perch as the second highest selling album of the year, with Adele's 21 still in a very compromising lead.

The annual New Year's Eve music special, aired on ABC television since 1975, was hosted for most of it's duration by legendary TV and music producer Dick Clark who sadly passed away in April this year at age 82. Other than the 2005/06 edition, Clark brought in the new year from Times Square with a host of musical guests, but sadly this year will be the first Clark-less celebration, with co-host Ryan Seacrest taking on full duties for the first time. As such, a two-hour special about the life and career of Clark will be held before the festivities get under way.
