Jeepers Creepers will chronicle the eye-popping British comic's move to Hollywood, where he portrayed hunchback Igor in Mel Brooks' cult movie comedy Young Frankenstein.

The play has been written by Feldman's biographer Robert Ross.

Jones, who directed Monty Python's The Life of Brian, will take charge of a four-week run of the play at London's Leicester Square Theatre from 18 January (16).

Jones worked with Feldman several times during the 1960s and even wrote sketches for and appeared in the comedian's hit show It's Marty.

"He was one of those very kind and very funny people who helped all the Pythons along the way," Jones tells the BBC. "It's lovely to be able to say a belated thank you by bringing him back to eye-popping life - sort of - on the London stage."

Actor David Boyle will play Feldman in the production, opposite Rebecca Vaughan, who will portray the funnyman's wife Lauretta.

Feldman died in Mexico in 1982 after suffering a heart attack.
