Field Day 2016 Preview

Field Day Four Tet Yeasayer Metronomy Blossoms The Brian Jonestown Massacre Mystery Jets

There are some genuinely huge and historic festivals cemented in the June festival calendar and London's Field Day continues to prove that it's worthy of cement-status. There's a lot to be praised when it comes to this festival; the organisation, the food, the drink and the atmosphere are all brilliant, but it all comes down to the line-up. There aren't any safe bets and no scheduling based on labels and budgets. This is a line up built on talent and potential.

Because of this, attempting to plan your day and ensure you don't miss the talked about set can be tricky, so allow us to help. As Field Day is now a two day extravaganza, here are the five sets to build your Saturday and Sunday around at this year's Field Day.

10 Acts You Had No Idea Were Playing Glastonbury

Part of Glastonbury’s enduring reputation is its propensity for composing a line-up that is extensive that a wealth of acts will pass by unnoticed. We’ve sieved through the thousands of acts who will be making the trip to Worthy Farm to highlight ten acts whose inclusion in the festival bill may surprise many. Sifting through the lower rungs of the bill uncovers a slew of rising stars and forgotten flames, those who are on the ascension to the upper levels of cultural recognition as well as those whose days of glory are far behind them.

Beyond the endless stretch of humans eyeing up the pyramid stage with binoculars are copious tents and smaller stages which host a myriad of curiosities, from fading pop stars regurgitating their hit songs for the umpteenth time to all manner of odd theatrics, spoken word performances, comedians, circus performances and Happy Monday’s hype-man Bez, who has this year been granted his very own ‘Acid House’ stage. Here then, are ten acts who to varying degrees will surprise festival goers with their very presence at the culturally sacred Somerset site:

Austin Psych Fest 2014 Logo

Shield your eyes as Austin's most vibrant music festival marks its seventh year from May 2nd-4th 2014. With The Zombies, The Horrors and Temples on this unique bill, are we looking at Austin Psych Fest's best year yet?

Founded in 2008, the Austin Psych Fest started off as a tiny event; a one day blast of sensational independent bands at The Red Barn venue. It took just one year for it to expand into three whole days of psychedelic magic and will this year take place at the Carson Creek Ranch playing host to some of the most well respected bands of the genre in the business. We've had six years so far of this inimitable energy and with old lucky number seven comes a line-up that is arguably the festival's most interesting yet.
