Pharrell Williams Justin Timberlake The Dave Matthews Band

Pharrell Williams knelt down in protest as he joined a star-studded line up for the 'Concert for Charlottesville' on Sunday night (24.09.17).

The 'Happy' singer performed with The Roots as he joined the likes of Justin Timberlake and Ariana Grande at the University of Virginia's Scott Stadium, where hometown heroes The Dave Matthews Band headlined an emotional show.

During his hit-filled set - which included the songs 'Freedom', 'Happy' and his Daft Punk collaboration 'Get Lucky' - the star made reference to Donald Trump's condemnation of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem.

I'm With The Band: Dave Matthews Hitches Ride To Gig With Fan

The Dave Matthews Band

Emuly Kraus was casually going about her business, driving to The Dave Matthews Band show in Hershey, Pennsylvania when something caught her eye. Is that? Was that?

Yes, it was. Dave Matthews himself stranded by the side of the road with his bicycle. The good guy of rock was planning on cycling to the show at Hersheypark stadium when the back tire of his bike popped. "I did not have a cell phone on the bicycle. So I thought, 'Sh*t," he recalled to CNN that night at his show, "And then a nice lady named Emily rode up in a red car with a bicycle rack on it and gave me a ride on to the gig."

Speaking to CNN affiliate WHP, Kraus said she and her boyfriend were running late for the show and spotted man who seemed extremely familiar at the side of the road.

Dave Matthews Thumbs A Lift From Fan After Getting Stranded

The Dave Matthews Band Dave Matthews

In a surreal set of circumstances, Dave Matthews Band fan Emily Kraus was driving along with her boyfriend through Pennsylvania. The pair were running a little late to the concert of their favourite rock band yet still stopped to help out an all-too-familiar-looking hitchhiker. Dave Matthews had been cycling to chill out and catch a little fresh air before his band's evening show at Hersheypark Stadium but in a bad case of planning had taken neither a cell phone nor a puncture repair kit with him, according to CNN. Twig, glass, stone; whatever it was the gave Dave a flat was quickly forgotten as the singer realised he was stranded and risked missing his own show. Being good-hearted citizens, Kraus and her boyfriend pulled over to help the stranger, but began to quickly realise that he wasn't any old grizzled, slightly sweaty hitchhiker. And it just so happened they were all headed the same way...

As luck might have had it, Kraus' car had a bike rack on the back meaning she could give both the stranded songwriter and his steed a lift to the show. "We didn't know how to make conversation with him," admitted a rather star-struck Kraus, who reportedly chatted to her idol about his tour and his daughter's summer camp.

$1 Million Donation: Dave Matthews Band Pledge Support For Superstorm Sandy Recovery

The Dave Matthews Band have pledged to donate $1 million to help those affected by Superstorm Sandy. Fox News have reported that the band, originally from Charlottesville, Virginia made the announcement today (Wednesday November 14, 2012) on their website, revealing that the opening date of their winter tour will be a benefit show and all ticket and merchandise sales will go to the Bama Works Sandy Relief Fund, which was established at the Community Foundation of New York.

When the storm hit the East Coast of the USA just over two weeks, it caused devastation and widespread damage. There were power outages in New Jersey and New York and the clean-up operation continues to try to get communities back to their former state. The band’s show at the Izod Center in New Jersey on November 30, will benefit the Bama Works fund.

The Dave Matthews Band aren’t the only high profile artist to help with the relief effort following the storm. NBC hosted hosted a telethon concert, featuring some of the world’s best-love musicians, including Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi and Sting. Christina Aguilera performed a moving rendition of her hit song ‘Beautiful,’ which became one of the highlights of the concert.

Cyrus Getting Sexy: Miley Cyrus Matures For Two And A Half Men

Miley Cyrus is shaking off her Hannah Montana image and getting saucy with her forthcoming Two and a Half Men appearance. Miley, 19, landed a guest spot on the popular sitcom and plays the daughter of one of Walden’s mate’s (Walden is played by Ashton Kutcher). With the new Miley Cyrus haircut - a sleek blond bob - it’s clear that Miley is leaving her Disney days behind as MTV have shown her pictured on a bed with Ashton, wearing a skimpy lingerie set, which leaves little to the imagination.

It’s not Ashton that she’s after, in the show though – so Mila Kunis can breathe a sigh of relief. Miley’s character Missi has her sights set on Jake – played by Angus T Jones. Her latest TV appearance seems to be the next step in her campaign to become a sex symbol, rather than a squeaky-clean teen star. Earlier this year, it was reported that she’s working on her new album, which she hopes will be “very adult and sexy and believable.” She’s signed up with Red Light Management, who deal with the likes of Foo Fighters and The Dave Matthews Band, so we’re expecting a rockier image from Cyrus this time round.

Miss Cyrus might have to be careful that she doesn’t try to grow up too quickly though. Just last weekend, she was involved in an embarrassing social faux pas, when the Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav had his photo taken with her, mistakenly thinking that she was Gwen Stefani. Most women would kill to be mistaken for Gwen Stefani, of course, but it’s worth remembering that she’s over twice Miley’s age!

Bob Dylan Beaten To Billboard No.1 Spot By The Dave Matthews Band

The Dave Matthews Band Bob Dylan The XX Little Big Town

Bob Dylan’s Tempest could only manage No.3 on The Billboard 200 Chart this week, with The Dave Matthews Band claiming the top spot.

Their album, Away from the World moved 266,000 copies, making it their sixth consecutive album in a row to take the top spot, and they are the only group to have done that according to Billboard. Their previous Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King bowed with 424,000 copies in 2009. Clambering the peak of the Billboard charts, and planting your flag in first (for the week, anyway) is a great achievement for any band, but beating the musical legend that is Bob Dylan on your way there makes it even more special, even if the aging star is considered a little old for mountaineering. Ol’ Dylan comes in at No. 3 with 110,000 album sales, but it is his fifth consecutive top-10 studio album, which is a commendable feat in itself.

Elsewhere, Little Big Town's Tornado came in 2nd for the week, with 113,000, giving the country quartet their highest charting album ever. The Avett Brothers also grab their best week ever on the Billboard 200 as The Carpenter sells 98,000, putting them at No. 4. The XX’s previous best entry was No.92, but they blew that into smithereens with a No.5 position this week; their new album Coexist selling 73,000 copies.
