The Futureheads' new track, The Old Dun Cow, is taken from their upcoming fifth album, Rant, which will be released on April 2nd. The album is somewhat of a departure for the band; the ten tracks on the LP are all a capella. To celebrate the release of Rant, The Futureheads will be going on a UK tour throughout April.
The video for The Old Dun Cow sees the band sitting in a pub, singing the folk standard with great gusto. The only occasional percussion is the four piece knocking on the table, when the song calls for it. It was filmed by Ian West.
The Old Dun Cow tells the tale of a pub on fire. The regulars, instead of escaping the building, decide to drink as much of the beer as they can before the inevitable happens and the pub is destroyed.
In addition to three catchy folk tunes, which includes The Old Dun Cow, The Futureheads have also covered two rather unusual songs in a capella style - Meet Me Halfway by the Black Eyed Peas and, rather fittingly, Kelis' Acapella.
