Fact: The house where author F. SCOTT FITZGERALD reportedly wrote literary classic The Great Gatsby is on the market for $3.8 million (GBP2.4 million). The writer lived in the Long Island mansion, which was built in 1918, with his wife from 1922 to 1924. The seven-bedroom property was last on the market in 2008, when it sold for $4.2 million (GBP2.6 million). The Great Gatsby was released in 1925.

Fact: Director Baz Luhrmann has been nominated at the Australian Directors Guild Awards for The Great Gatsby. Also in the feature film category is Ivan Sen for detective drama Mystery Road, Jonathan Teplitzky for The Railway Man, Kim Mordaunt for drama The Rocket, and Zak Hilditch for thriller These Final Hours. The winner will be announced on 2 May (14) in Sydney.

Fact: Australian director Baz Luhrmann has teamed up with alcohol brand Absolut Vodka to release a limited edition variety of the spirit called Absolut Oz. Luhrmann became fascinated with cocktails while making The Great Gatsby, which is set during prohibition-era America, and he has worked with the vodka brand to create four special drinks to be made with Absolut Oz.

Fact: Jake Gyllenhaal has voiced an audiobook version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby to coincide with the release of Baz Luhrmann's highly anticipated movie adaptation. Gyllenhaal tackles the role of narrator Nick Carraway for the audiobook, which was released in the U.S. earlier this month (Apr13). The role is played by Tobey Maguire in the new film.

Fact: Costumes worn by the stars of new movie The Great Gatsby have gone on display in London. The outfits, seen on actors including Leonardo DiCaprio, are part of an exhibition at the Brooks Brothers menswear store in the British capital which runs until 31 May (13). Brooks Brothers designers helped create 1920s-style costumes for the film and have launched a special range to mark the collaboration.

Fact: Baz Luhrmann's new movie adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby will open the Cannes Film Festival in France on 15 May (13). The director previously opened the prestigious festival with Moulin Rouge! in 2001. The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan.

Fact: Leonardo DiCaprio's Christmas present to U.S. fans has stalled - his movie adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby has been pushed back to next summer (13). Warner Bros. bosses have chosen not to go head to head with DiCaprio's other Christmas Day film, Django Unchained, and the packed cinema schedule at the end of the year (12), which also includes Les Miserables and The Hobbit.
