Boston rock band The Pixies are back again with some brand new material in the form of sixth studio album 'Head Carrier', set to be released in the Fall. It follows their 2014 comeback 'Indie Cindy' and features a spectacular first single entitled 'Um Chagga Lagga'.

PixiesPixies bring new album 'Head Carrier' this Fall

'Head Carrier' is the Pixies' first album since their reunion release in 2014, but while 'Indie Cindy' featured only songs previously released over the years on EPs, this one is completely fresh and new having spent six weeks in pre-production being written and arranged. The band entered the London's Rak Studios back in February where they produced the record with Tom Dalgety (Simple Minds, Royal Blood, Killing Joke).

'This was a wonderful luxury, for us to have the time to be able to really work these new songs out', drummer David Lovering said. 'By the time we started recording, we all knew the songs backwards and forwards, so it took half as long for us to make this album as it did to make 'Indie Cindy'.'

The artwork for the album has been designed by Vaughan Oliver, and it marks the first Pixies release to feature their newest bassist Paz Lenchantin, who took over from Kim Shattuck in 2014. I 'was very nervous in the beginning when I went to that first rehearsal', said Lenchantin on becoming Pixies' latest member. 'There were these shoes I felt I had to fill, and I tried to do the best I could for the fans. I tried to make the live performances true to the originals and I spent three years learning to understand what being a Pixie meant. Now my heart, spirit and love for their music is embedded in me and I feel like I have become a Pixie. We had been more about the history of Pixies, but now we're going forward.'

The Pixies are set to head out on a world tour in November, following their summer festival run this month. Tickets for the first European leg of the tour will be on sale on Friday (July 8th 2016) and will take them to Amsterdam, Antwerp, Paris, Prague, Vienna and other major European cities.

'Head Carrier' is set to be released on September 30th 2016 through Pixiesmusic/Play It Again Sam, and it's available for pre-order now.
