The Simpsons is both a kids’ show, and an adult show. For the young ones, the brightly animated characters and slapstick comedy ensure belly laughs keep rolling through, and for the older generation, the humor is laced with a dark comedic streak.

The SimpsonsIt can't be any of these core dudes, can it?

But one thing the show has never shied away from is death, and it looks as though another major character is set to meet their make in season 25; only thing is, it could be any of many. Al Jean confirmed that someone is going to be worm food, but wasn't about to divulge who the victim would be.

“I’ll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character,” he said, “but I won’t say who it is." (Sun News)

Now, given that the animated comedy has run for 24 seasons so far, it doesn’t take a genius to guess that a fair few awards have been handed out along the way, including plenty of Emmys for voice acting. Sideshow Bob, Krusty The Clown, Comic Book Guy, Chief Wiggum, Edna Krabappel and Abe Simpson? That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

We’re going to throw out a leftfield prediction here, because why not; why not jump off the fence and put our heads on the guillotine? If we’re right, we’ll just talk about it all the time; if we’re wrong, no one will remember and we won’t be reminding anyone. It’s going to be… Itchy.

The Simpsons always likes to throw out curveballs, and we’re putting our virtual money this cartoon-within-a-cartoon character biting the dust. The bully mouse has killed Scratchy over a billion times, and we reckon this is the season the cat get its own back.
