The Sopranos actor Louis Gross has been sentenced to five years probation after admitting using fake $100 (£62.50) notes in a bar.

The 29 year old pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a forged instrument stemming from his arrest last August (13), and he appeared at Manhattan Supreme Court in New York City on Monday (16Jun14) for sentencing.

Gross avoided jail and was handed five years probation. He was initially facing up to 15 years behind bars for felony forgery charges.

After the hearing, he revealed plans to revive his acting career, telling the New York Post, "I'm nearly 30. I have things career-wise I want to get done, and this is a distraction."
