Tiffany Trump has hit headlines this week over rumours that she was being bullied in some way during New York Fashion Week. However, it has now been reported that that inital story was completely baseless and thrown out of all proportion - by one of the original purveyors herself.

Tiffany TrumpTiffany Trump apparently snubbed at NYFW show

The First Daughter was seated at the Philipp Plein fashion show earlier this week, when a fashion journalist took to Twitter to reveal that the seats around her were empty because no-one wanted to sit near her (presumably because of her controversial father President Donald Trump).

'Nobody wants to sit next to Tiffany Trump at Philipp Plein, so they moved and the seats by her are empty', said former Wall Street Journal columnist Christina Binkley, alongside a photo of the President's daughter in her seat. She then posted another photo, re-emphasising her point.

She then apparently went back on her statement yesterday (February 16th 2017), insisting that the incident wasn't, in fact, a case of nobody wanting to sit next to Tiffany. 'Of all the stories done on my viral Tiffany Trump empty-seats tweet, not one news org has interviewed me to ask what happened. Urban legend', she wrote on Twitter. 'The two seats remained empty for about 2 minutes before others sat there. Then Philipp Plein's sister made them move so she could sit there.'

Despite the fact that Binkley was one of the ones who made it sound like fashion editors were being deliberately 'mean girls', she has now changed her tune completely. 'She was surrounded by photographers, and the two women who moved were leaning away - they clearly didn't want to be in those photographs', she told People. 'But I don't think Tiffany really noticed that, because she was active with her friends and the photographers.'

She also went on to explain the situation to Refinery29: 'Several more people came and sat down; one of them was a famous creative director. As I was chatting with them, a Philipp Plein executive came over and asked those guys to move because Philipp's sister and girlfriend wanted to sit there - it turned out those ended up being highly covetable seats! It was absolutely a case of musical chairs. That photograph I tweeted lives on in history now, creating this urban legend that she was sitting there lonely, with empty seats beside her.'

Unfortunately, though, Binkley wasn't the only person to make the initial observation on Twitter. Elle magazine fashion editor Nikki Ogunnaike said, 'Phillip Plein at 10PM: 1 hour late start, editors fleeing just so they don't have to sit behind Tiffany Trump.' Then, when Fashionista's Alyssa Vingan Klein Tweeted: 'Seating s**tshow at Philipp Plein because no editors want to sit near Tiffany Trump. SHOCKER', Ogunnaike responded with: 'We moved and are down the hall.'

A number of people reached out to defend 23-year-old Tiffany, including Whoopi Goldberg who made her feelings known on 'The View'. 'I don't wanna talk about your dad, but girl I will sit next to you 'cause, girl, I have been there', she said. 'I'll find your a** and sit next you.' Tiffany later responded on Twitter and said, 'Thank you Whoopi Goldberg I'd love to sit with you too!' So far, that's the only comment the First Daughter has made regarding the incident.

Fashion designer Philipp Plein also spoke out on the side of Tiffany. 'I don't think she has anything to do with the drama and all the discussion going on. Can you blame someone, a daughter, for having a father who has the wrong political direction for some people?' He told TMZ. 'I'm not a politician, I'm not here to judge anybody. I couldn't care less. I just think it's not right to judge or to treat someone not with respect because she or he is the daughter or son of somebody people might not like.'
