The star, who has worked with the likes of Jay Z, Missy Elliott, and Justin Timberlake, has teamed up with exercise bosses to soundtrack their new non-dance-inspired workout, called STRONG by Zumba.

The new programme, which is different from the brand's famous Latin music-infused dance workout, will focus on high-intensity interval training, bodyweight exercises, and strength training, with each move set to specific music, reports The Associated Press.

"I've always been into fitness, and music is a big part of exercising for me, and I feel like STRONG by Zumba was a great way - with my edge, my music style - to put it together," says Timbaland, who confesses he has never taken a Zumba class.

He has already created the track Nobody, by his new all-girl group Obs3ssed, specially for STRONG by Zumba training sessions, while he is also in the studio with fellow hitmaker Scott Storch.

Timbaland isn't the first artist to work with Zumba executives - Latin stars Daddy Yankee and Don Omar have also previously provided tunes for the popular exercise, which counts Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and Kelly Rowland among its celebrity fans.

Rapper Lil Jon also previously embarked on a unique Zumba dance tour in 2013, when he served as the DJ for four special classes led by celebrity instructor Gina Grant. The Zumba Nightclub Series took the unlikely pair to Boston, Massachusetts, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Queens, New York, and Cincinnati, Ohio to help fitness fanatics get their groove on.
