Former S Club 7 star Tina Barrett has given birth to her first child, a baby boy, taking to social media to share her happy news.

“Proud and excited to announce the arrival of my beautiful baby boy Roman,” the singer posted on Monday night (June 20th) alongside blue heart and baby bottle emojis. It’s her first child with her partner Paul Cashmore.

The 39 year old star had previously admitted that she was immensely looking forward to being a mother and that the pregnancy had been progressing well, but that concerns about her age had been hanging over her.

“It’s amazing. I’m loving every minute of it. I’ve been prepared for the worst because you hear stories, but it’s been really good. I feel very lucky,” she told MailOnline previously about her pregnancy. “People do say when you’re late 30s, 40s that is it more difficult and you could have complications. That was always in the back of my head when we decided to try for a baby.”

Barrett enjoyed three hit albums and eleven UK Top Five singles as a member of S Club 7 back in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. She met her partner Paul, back in 2012 on the set of a charity music video for ‘The Clapping Song’, and admitted that the connection was instant, and that he was the first man she had dated that she felt she wanted to have children with.

“Luckily we conceived naturally and it’s been absolutely fine. Had we not, it would have been really tough. Things have changed so much because so many women are having babies older now. I think I would have looked into IVF if we had experienced difficulties.”

She’s the third of the four female members of S Club 7 to become a mother, after Jo O’Meara gave birth to a boy, Lenny, in 2008 and Rachel Stevens welcoming two daughters, Amelie and Minnie, in 2010 and 2014 respectively.
