Another jaw-dropping episode from 'Sherlock' season 4 this weekend which saw this complicated sleuth meet the most evil man he has ever come across. And, potentially, the most evil woman. 'The Lying Detective' is the most intensely scary episode yet.

So Watson (Martin Freeman) has a new therapist and he's having visions of his deceased wife Mary (Amanda Abbington) everywhere. That's what Sunday's (January 8th 2017) episode entailed. It turns out that she's having a good influence on him in the end, because it's her words combined with a frantic Mrs Hudson (Una Stubbs) who encourages Watson to help Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and forgive him for his involvement in Mary's death.

Morgan Trailer

Lee Weathers evaluates potential risks in businesses, businesses that blur the lines of what could be deemed ethically correct. When Lee is assigned a new case, she journey's to a remote scientific facility where they focus in engineering human DNA. Lee is informed that their latest project is a scientifically engineered human who's developed at a far greater speed than any human. By one month old, the baby had already begun walking and her physical and mental development continued to appreciate from then.

5 years later, Morgan is almost fully formed and her handlers have grown incredibly attached to the child that they've cared for since birth. However, her human and synthetic bioengineered elements combined with laboratory style upbringing appear to affected Morgan's thought process and she's unable to set conclusive thoughts on how to behave.

When Morgan violently injures one of her doctor/handlers, Lee is brought in to evaluate what the team ought to do with her. Knowing that Lee's decision could mean the end of Morgan, they are distant from Weather's and must decide just how far they will go to save their experiment.

American actress and former ‘Sex and the City’ star Kim Cattrall is to play a role in a new BBC adaptation of Agatha Christie’s ‘The Witness for the Prosecution’.

The two-part drama will also star Andrea Riseborough and Toby Jones, and has been adapted by writer Sarah Phelps from Christie’s 23-page short story of the same name that she wrote in 1925.

Reinhard Heydrich was one of the fiercest anti-Semitic officers in the Nazi army. He authored the Final Solution plan which detailed the extermination of Jews throughout Europe and was the third most powerful member of The Nazi Party only surpassed by Hitler and Heinrich Himmler. Heydrich's reputation as one of the most dangerous and darkest officers in the regime was known throughout Europe.

Having been appointed as the head of the army in Czechoslovakia, Heydrich did his best to distance himself from any possible threat, the resistance army were few and far between and were barely operational and Heydrich's control of the region was continually strengthening.

Two Czech soldiers who were living in exile find themselves as the most important people in a mission to assassinate Heydrich. Their mission is called Anthropod and they have been trained by the British military to go into Prague and end Heydrich's reign, which was so brutal he was nicknamed The Butcher Of Prague.

For the Queen of Longtrellis, all she's ever wanted is a child of her own but the king and queen haven't been able to conceive. Not willing to wait any longer, the queen consults a sorcerer who is able to grant the Queens wish at any price the enchanter wishes.

The King of Highhills was never blessed with a son, his daughter is his only living heir and invites his citizens to take part in a challenge to win the hand of his daughter. When a brute of a ogre wins his challenge, the princess is given away and begins a lonesome life with him in the mountains. However, despite the ogre abusing the slight girl, as each day passes, she becomes stronger and bides her time before the day that she can become the leader her Kingdom needs.

Serena Review

Gorgeously shot, this period drama has a terrific setting and vivid characters, but is edited together in a jarring way that distances the audience from the situations. As the story progresses, the film also shifts strangely from a riveting exploration of a power couple with a pioneering spirit to a more melodramatic thriller about corruption and murder. It's consistently engaging thanks to the power of the cast, but it should have also been darkly moving as well.

The story is set in the late 1920s, as lumber baron George (Bradley Cooper) struggles under the economic pressures of the impending Great Depression. Then he meets Serena (Jennifer Lawrence) and it's love at first sight. A feisty, outspoken woman with a background in logging, she immediately ruffles feathers in George's camp by giving out advice that's actually helpful. George's two righthand men, accountant Buchanan (David Dencik) and foreman Campbell (Sean Harris), both quietly wonder if this woman is going to mess up their all-male world of underhanded bribes and physical danger. But she develops a rapport with George's hunting tracker Galloway (Rhys Ifans). Meanwhile, the local sheriff (Toby Jones) is trying to get George's land declared protected national parkland.

Oscar-winning Danish director Susanne Bier (In a Better World) gives the film a grand scale with expansive mountain landscapes and a sweeping romantic tone. The Western-style bustle of the logging camp is lively and authentic, as is the continual threat of death or dismemberment on the job. Against this, Cooper and Lawrence have terrific chemistry both with each other and the characters around them, sharply portrayed by strong actors who know how to invest plenty of attitude into even a small role.

Leave To Remain Review

With improv-style performances, using stories based on real-life experiences, this film has a strong blast of authenticity to shine light on a big issue. So it's frustrating that the narratives aren't more carefully developed to engage emotions. At least the cast keeps everything fresh, infusing their performances with unexpected shadings as writer-director Bruce Goodison creates a terrific sense of the interaction between young people who arrive in London from all over the world.

It's set in a youth home run by Nigel (Toby Jones), where teens who have claimed refugee status wait for their cases to be heard. The film settles in on three central characters: Omar (Noof Ousellam) is a natural leader, a charismatic guy who has learned how to work the system and tell whatever story is required. And after waiting so long for a permanent visa, he can't remember which story he told to whom. He befriends newcomer Abdul (Masieh Zarrien), a shellshocked younger guy from the same region in Afghanistan who speaks no English and knows that Omar is lying about his background. Meanwhile, teen Zizidi (Yasmin Mwanza) is scarred and traumatised by years of violence and rape back home in Africa, but the officials aren't sure she qualifies for asylum.

Each of these kids recounts horrific stories of life before fleeing for sanctuary in Europe, and the film continues by showing the callous treatment they get in Britain, both on the streets and in immigration interrogations, where officers misread their nonverbal cues and doubt their accounts. It's no surprise that their first instinct is to run and hide, followed by seeking ways around the system. And the young actors offer natural, relaxed performances that sharply capture their personalities as well as their deep need for a safe place among people they can trust.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review

This is the Marvel movie that divides the fans from the casual filmgoers, as the movies become more like a TV series in which the world is saved from disaster every week. While it's shot and acted to an unusually high standard, the script treats the characters like pawns to throw at each other rather than real human beings. So while it's hugely entertaining, there isn't a hint of actual tension or suspense.

Now settling into life in the 21st century, super-powered soldier Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and his cohort Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) are horrified when the mysterious, seemingly indestructible Winter Soldier launches an attack on Shield Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) on the streets of Washington DC. Suspected of being on the wrong side, Steve and Natasha set out to find out what's up, drafting in angry veteran Sam (Anthony Mackie) and his whizzy flying-wings accessory. Meanwhile, Shield boss Pierce (Robert Redford) is carrying on with launching a wildly heavy-handed security system for America.

Marvel show-runner Kevin Feige works hard to make these movies fit loosely into the overarching mythology while standing on their own. But this is the ninth time these superheroes have had to save the world since 2008's Iron Man, and it's getting a bit tired. This chapter introduces a perviously unseen darkness in the evil agency Hydra, but the real innovation here is the use of gritty Bourne-style direction for the lucid action sequences.

Steve Rogers has awoken after a deep sleep lasting 70 years following his fight with Nazi adversary the Red Skull during World War II. Things are a lot different now, however, which is more than enough for him to contend with, but when he is forcibly enlisted in the superhero group S.H.I.E.L.D. by the morally questionable Nick Fury, he soon finds himself in immediate danger once again. Unable to trust most of the people around him, he finds comfort in his S.H.I.E.L.D. cohorts, namely Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow and Sam Wilson AKA Falcon. Together, the group set out to tackle the world's latest threat, but when one member of S.H.I.E.L.D. is targeted and attacked in mysterious circumstances, they start to wonder if they are getting the whole picture. With assassins on Rogers' tail incessantly, he starts to uncover the planet's real menace in the form of the legendary Winter Soldier.

However, when a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. is attacked, they find themselves in mysterious circumstances and start to wonder if someone's keeping something from them. As Rogers fights off a myriad of assassins, the real threat starts to surface in the form of the Winter Soldier.

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is the sequel to 2011's 'Captain America: The First Avenger'. Based on the Marvel comics by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, it has been directed by Primetime Emmy-winning brothers Anthony Russo, Joe Russo ('You, Me and Dupree', 'Community') with a screenplay by collaborative writing duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely ('Thor: The Dark World', 'The Chronicles of Narnia', 'Pain & Gain'). It is set to hit the UK on March 28th 2014.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer

After becoming the first duo to win the annual Hunger Games following its 74th year, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have spread hope among the people of Panem who now feel the possibility of a revolution. However, the Capitol realise how dangerous this could be for their ordered, totalitarian society and force them to compete once again, alongside 22 other previous winners in the The Quarter Quell - an event that happens every 25th years and allows the Capitol to invent a new twist for the year's Games. Tensions arise between Katniss and Peeta who both want the other to be the victor in the 75th Hunger Games and do everything within their power to protect each other.

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is the highly anticipated sequel to 2012's 'The Hunger Games'; the film adaptation to Suzanne Collins' sci-fi novel trilogy. Taking over from Gary Ross as director is Francis Lawrence ('I Am Legend', 'Constantine', 'Water for Elephants') with screenwriting from Simon Beaufoy ('The Full Monty', 'Slumdog Millionaire', '127 Hours') and Michael Arndt ('Oblivion', 'Toy Story 3', 'Little Miss Sunshine'), though we'll still see the same star cast reprising their roles. It is due to be released in cinemas everywhere on November 21st 2013.

However, the President sees her as a threat to their capitalist society and vows to have her killed, but first to make the people of every district turn against her. Rebellion appears to be arising among the people and Katniss just wants to get through the tour safely. But with the 75th Games approaching, known as The Quarter Quell, the Capitol decide to introduce the biggest twist the Games have ever seen; a twist that will completely transform their nation.

Toby Jones, known for his performance in 'Captain America' and his role as Dobby the House Elf in the 'Harry Potter' films (amongst others), has stated that his children are indifferent to his job.

46-year-old English actor Toby Jones has appeared in film franchises like 'The Hunger Games' and 'Harry Potter', but recently revealed his daughters, Madeleine and Holly, are certainly less than impressed with his work.

While speaking at the London Film Museum on 4th February, 2013, as part of the London Evening Standard British Film Awards, Jones said ''If you could see the indifference on my children's faces when I get something like 'Harry Potter', 'Captain America'... They just look at me with complete indifference! Hopefully in future years they'll realise.''

London Critics Circle Film Awards Choose Unexpected Winners

Due to much of its tighter focus on British and/or Irish films and their actors, the London Critics Film Awards list of winners often differs greatly from the other big awards of the season. This year, however, they have gone even farther left field, rightly awarding some of the distinctly lesser known films and actors, triumphing over those better known.

Berberian Sound Studio, which came out last August, did very well, winning the Attenborough Award for the best British Film of the Year. Written and directed by Peter Strickland this is only his second feature. Having been described as 'seriously weird and seriously good' by Peter Bradshaw, Berberian Sound Studio is a psychological thriller set in an Italian horror movie studio of the 1970s.

It stars Toby Jones who also won the award for Best British Actor of the year.

HBO’s The Girl tells the tale of Alfred Hitchcock’s relationship with the screen star Tippi Hedren - played by Sienna Miller. The story itself seems to be the real winner here; the TV movie explores the theory that Hitchcock (played by Toby Jones) “behaved like a psychotic lout” towards Tippi Hedren during the two films that they made together (The Birds and Marnie).

When Hedren spurns Hitchcock’s sexual advances, he uses his directorial power to torture her. When filming The Birds, he insists that she films take after take of the scenes in which she is attacked by birds. He does his best to break her spirit but ultimately, she remains strong and ultimately retains the upper hand.

New York Daily News have praised the feature, saying that Miller and Jones’ performances “keep the story alive and moving,” though Jones’ Hitchcock has but one dimension: “an arrogant egomaniac who was unpleasant to everyone around him.” Imelda Staunton is landed with the role of his unenviable wife, portrayed here as an “enabler” of his torrid behavior. The power of this disturbing story, according to chron.com is so fierce that you will be left feeling like you need to take a shower afterwards. According to their report though, Toby Jones’ performance is caricatured and lacking in authenticity.

Berberian Sound Studio Review

Fiendishly clever British filmmaker Peter Strickland (see Katalin Varga) offers a treat to movie geeks with this clever behind-the-scenes blending of comedy, drama and horror. It's so finely observed that it can't help but get under our skin, letting our own imaginations do much of the heavy lifting as things get increasingly, insanely freaky.

Toby Jones finally gets the leading role he deserves as the tweedy sound designer Gilderoy, who travels to Italy in the 1970s to mix the audio track for a trashy blood-soaked giallo horror movie called The Equestrian Vortex. It's about nuns who are viciously interrogated for being witches, so Gilderoy's job entails directing actresses to scream their lungs out into microphones as assistants smash melons and cabbage heads to create the grisly sound effects.

Then as the workings of Italian society drive him around the bend, Gilderoy begins to lose his grip on reality, as if the horror movie is leaking into his private life.

Snow White And The Huntsman Review

There's an oddly over-serious tone to this fairy tale, as if the filmmakers thought they were making a massive action epic on par with The Lord of the Rings. But the plot has all the complexity of, well, a bedtime story. And a little more camp attitude would have helped.

After the gorgeous Ravenna (Theron) marries and then murders a benevolent widower king, she locks his beautiful daughter Snow White (Stewart) in a tower.

All the better to continue draining the youth from the entire kingdom. But just as she prepares to take the now of-age Snow's heart, Snow escapes into the woods, and Ravenna hires huntsman Eric (Hemsworth) to find her. Of course, Eric switches sides when he finds her, joining with Snow's childhood sweetheart William (Claflin) and a gang of dwarves to end the evil queen's reign.

My Week With Marilyn Review

Based on Colin Clark's memoirs, this film sometimes feels a bit too warm and nostalgic for its own good. But the performances are strong, and it's packed with terrific moments.

At age 23, Colin (Redmayne) is struggling to break into the movie business, camping out at the production offices of Laurence Olivier (Branagh), who is just about to start filming the 1957 comedy The Prince and the Showgirl with Marilyn Monroe (Williams). While Marilyn's diva behaviour and strict acting coach (Wanamaker) enrage Laurence, he can't deny that when she gets it right, she's magic. Meanwhile, Colin is assigned to help Marilyn make it through the shoot. And of course he can't help falling for her.

It's rare to see a film in which writers, director and cast all respect the intelligence of their audience. So when it happens, it's something to savour.

Especially when it shows as much audacious skill as this British thriller does.

In the Cold War paranoia of 1973, there's a Russian mole in British intelligence. And the top boss Control (Hurt) has narrowed it down to four top colleagues (Firth, Jones, Hinds and Dencik). He asks faithful George Smiley (Oldman) to root out the spy, so he and Peter (Cumberbatch) begin a complex investigation that involves a discredited agent (Hardy) and a murdered operative (Strong). But the truth only seems to get more elusive the further they descend into the rabbit hole.

Anchored by a ripping central performance from Serkis, this biopic about notorious musician Ian Dury is too stylish for its own good. Director Whitecross shows ambition and audacity, but his riotous visual style is distracting.

Disabled by polio at age 10, Ian Dury (Serkis) grew up with a fierce determination to be himself, and against the odds became an iconic leader of Britain's punk scene in the 1970s. But his unruly lifestyle takes a toll on his personal relationships, and he barely knows his son Baxter (Milner) from his first wife Betty (Williams). So Baxter comes to stay with him and his current girlfriend Denise (Harris), and both father and son need to figure out how to relate to each other. And to realise how much they need each other.
