Tom Hiddleston Reveals What He'd Like Loki To Do Next In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Tom Hiddleston

Ever since his debut as the God of Mischief in 2011's 'Thor', Tom Hiddleston has made a great impression as Loki throughout his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though he's brothers with the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth), the pair have had an incredibly rocky relationship, and Loki would even become the primary antagonist in 2012's 'Avengers Assemble'.

Following his loss against his brother and the other Marvel heroes that make up the crime fighting squad, Loki would go on to heal old wounds with Thor during 'Thor: Ragnarok', which earned critical and wider praise upon its release last year. Now, we know Loki will be making an appearance in this month's 'Avengers: Infinity War', likely fighting alongside his former foes to tackle Thanos (Josh Brolin). When all is said and done in that picture however, Loki's future is up in the air.

When Marvel Cinematic Universe fans got a huge glimpse of the action they should expect from upcoming release 'Avengers: Infinity War' towards the back-end of 2017, they were awestruck at the brilliance and excitement that was headed their way. Finally getting a proper look at the villain of the piece, Thanos, and just how many members of the Marvel roster will be coming together to battle him, the stage was set for what could be the biggest comic book superhero movie of all time.

Exactly what the outcome may be remains to be seen, but what we do know is that this could be the closing chapter for some of the characters fans have fallen head over heels in love with over the past few years. Whilst we've not seen huge casualties on a large scale in the MCU up to this point, that could all be about to change.

Thor: Ragnarok Review

Very Good

The most riotously enjoyable Marvel movie yet, this action epic benefits hugely from the decision to let wacky New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi loose with the characters. In many ways, this film has the same comical sensibilities as his classics What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Except on a much larger scale with massive special effects. Yet even with all this action, there's not a moment of actual suspense, which is a growing problem in a movie universe in which the characters need to survive unscathed.

Ragnarok is a prophecy about the end of time, specifically the death of King Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and the destruction of Asgard. And it has just been triggered, stopping Odin's sons Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in their tracks with the news that they have an older sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett), the self-proclaimed goddess of death. As she brutally asserts her claim to the throne, the brothers find themselves dumped on the planet Sakaar. Loki mischievously worms his way into the favour of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), who sends Thor into the coliseum to fight the champion, namely his old friend Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). As Thor convinces Hulk's alter-ego David Banner to return with him to Asgard to stop Hela, he also needs Asgard's last Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), a tetchy warrior who is reluctant to work with him.

Tom Hiddleston Still Surprised By Loki's Popularity In The MCU

Tom Hiddleston

A little later this year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will deliver what's expected to be one of their most colourful and interesting films to-date in the form of 'Thor: Ragnarok'. Directed by Taika Waititi - somebody who has said the movie serves as a reset for the 'Thor' series - it's going to be very interesting to see which direction all of the major players in Thor's world are pulled in.

Chris Hemsworth is of course leading the flick in the titular role, with the likes of Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum and Tessa Thompson also set to make an impact. What many fans are looking forward to however is the inclusion of much-loved character Loki, played by British actor Tom Hiddleston.

Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

With his friends and his hammer, Thor is virtually unbeatable by any creature in the known universe. But what about when he doesn't have either of those things? It only takes a run-in with afterlife goddess Hela for his hammer to be destroyed, apparently beyond repair. And when he is kidnapped by her people and taken to the planet Sakaar, he has no choice but to enter into a gladiator match to save the people of Asgard from Ragnarök; the fate of total destruction. To his initial delight, and to the confusion of everyone in the arena, his opponent turns out to be none other than the Incredible Hulk. But when he realises that this Hulk is hell-bent on destroying him, he realises that he has no choice but to fight his supposed friend to the death.

Move Over Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston Is Set To Take On 'Hamlet'

Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston becomes the latest high-profile actor to take on the role of Hamlet. It will just be a brief stint for the actor, who will be treading the boards in the Kenneth Branagh directed rendition of the Shakespeare classic, all as part of a fundraising campaign for a London drama school.

The 36-year-old actor will be following in the footsteps of fellow Brits Benedict Cumberbatch, David Tennant and Andrew Scott by leading the cast for the new production of the Shakespearean tragedy 'Hamlet'. However, it will only be a 3-week exploit, and the likelihood is you won't get to see him in action.

Early Man Trailer

From were-rabbits to sabre-toothed bunny rabbits, Nick Park returns with a Stone Age adventure featuring characters in the world's favourite stop-motion animation style. But sabre-toothed bunnies are not, of course, the only creatures these cave men and women have to worry about; this is a time when prehistoric beasts like dinosaurs and woolly mammoths are roaming everywhere. Soon though, one brave caveman named Dug along with his pet warthog Hognob decides he must bring his rather timid tribe together if he wants to save them from one major nemesis which threatens the peace of their lives for good; the dastardly Bronze Age. But, unexpectedly, that battle soon turns into modern day football.

When Samuel L. Jackson And Tom Hiddleston Do Impressions Of Each Other

Samuel L Jackson Tom Hiddleston

Samuel L. Jackson has just treated Brits to a brief but hilarious impression of his 'Kong: Skull Island' co-star Tom Hiddleston, doing a British accent far more posh than what he actually sounds like. Following Tom's impression of Sam back in 2013, things are now even.

Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Samuel L. JacksonTom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson have now both done impressions of each other

The 68-year-old actor found himself in the same part of Oahu, Hawaii where he previously shot 1993's 'Jurassic Park' when he did his most recent movie 'Kong: Skull Island'. That meant getting to see a lot tourists doing the Jurassic Park Location Tour, though he was mostly hidden from them in his trailer. However, he suspects they might have seen a lot of Tom Hiddleston.
