Sir Tom Jones thinks music ''saved his life'' following the death of his wife.

The 76-year-old singer tragically lost his spouse Lady Melinda Rose Woodward - known as Linda - in April to lung cancer and, although he didn't think he'd ever sing again after her passing, he's glad he carried on.

Sir Tom Jones is set to return to the coaching panel of ‘The Voice UK’ for its first series on ITV, having been unceremoniously dumped by the BBC just over a year ago.

“I’m looking forward to returning to my big red chair on ‘The Voice UK’,” Jones said in a statement. “I had some great times on the show and I can’t wait again to discover and help some brand new talent. And of course be back with my pal Will.i.am.”

Rita Ora's Wardrobe Choice Sparks Complaints

Rita Ora Tom Jones Will.i.am Ricky Wilson

Rita Ora’s cleavage has triggered a deluge of complaints to the BBC after the pop star appeared on ‘The One Show’.

The 24 year old singer was a guest on the primetime evening programme on Monday (5th January) wearing a plunging white suit that, with nothing underneath, veered a little too much to the risqué side for some people’s tastes. The BBC confirmed that it received 424 complaints from the viewing public, most claiming that Rita’s revealing outfit was not appropriate for family tea-time viewing.

Signing up Kylie Minogue for The Voice was the BBC's way of proving that this singing contest - with its spinning chairs and blind auditions - could pack as much of a punch as The X-Factor, despite losing Danny O'Donoghue and Jessie J following its second season. The Australian was certainly a marquee signing, and alongside Tom Jones and Will.i.am (and the fella from Kaiser Chiefs), the BBC show had a judging line-up that could rival that of its ITV rival.

The Voice is back, and with an almost entirely new line-up too, as the BBC's returning singing contest hopes to come back with a bang and establish itself as a favourite with the British viewing public. Having suffered in the ratings in the last season, BBC bosses are hoping that the shake-up on the show will reinvigorate it's formula and turn the show into the country's top-rated reality contest.

The question is, will this shake up be enough to see the show surpass The X Factor as the nation's favourite singing contest? And can the show actually produce any stars this time?

Not Everyone Is Convinced That Kylie Minogue Will Be A Successful Judge On 'The Voice'

Kylie Minogue Jessie J Tom Jones Will.i.am The Script Gary Barlow Nicole Scherzinger Sharon Osbourne

Kylie Minogue remains one of the biggest names in pop music today, with a back catalogue that most modern day pop starlets could only dream of for their future output. With this in mind, her appointment as a judge on the upcoming season of the BBC's The Voice looks as though it could be the coup of the TV talent shows, however not everyone is convinced that she'll make a convincing judge on the show.

Kylie Minogue
Kylie has been brought in to add some style to the talent show

Her credentials as a pop artist need no justifying, however her credentials as a presence on television will be seriously tested when she begins her new job sitting alongside Tom Jones, Will.i.am and whoever is brought in to replace the departing Danny O'Donoghue. She is my all means a much more popular entertainer compared to Jessie, and probably more so than some of the men that she is joining, but she enters the BBC series as an inexperienced TV presenter and may struggle to assert any kind of personality and endear herself to the audience. Either that, or she'll be a massive success and be loved by all.

Rod Stewart: Modern Men Dress "Like Tramps"

Rod Stewart's been in the press for a lot of odd things recently; firstly there was the secrecy surrounding his model train set that the BBC weren't allowed to see, then his voiced puzzlement at never been knighted and bizarrely, his supposed rejection of a threesome with Mick Jagger. Now, he's been reported by Radio Times to have branded modern men as "tramps" in the way they dress.

Rod Stewart: Clearly Still Got It But Is He Still With It?

There was a tinge of wistful nostalgia to the 68 year-old's words however - he didn't seem to be hitting out at guys who like to dress down - rather he was reminiscing for those rose-tinted 'good old days': "I hate the way men dress today. At the theatre it's all anoraks and shorts. You can even get into most restaurants without wearing trousers. I used to love dressing for dinner." He spoke of the plight of so many women to get their boyfriends to dress up, saying "You go to dinner and see beautifully dressed women with men like tramps wearing trainers, jeans and T-shirts."

£15K For A 3 Week Stay! BBC Pay Sir Tom Jones' Savoy Hotel Bill

Tom Jones Will.i.am Jessie J

Tom Jones is one of the judges of the UK talent show The Voice, alongside Jessie J, Will.i.am and Danny Donoghue. It has been revealed today that the BBC paid £15000 for the singer (who is acting as a vocal coach for contestants) to stay at the London Savoy hotel.

The Final of The Voice is due to air on BBC One at 7.15pm on Saturday 22nd June. This latest controversy will probably cause an upsurge in viewers questioning if Tom Jones' role on the show was really worth his rumoured appearance fee of £500000 and his £15000 hotel bill. Jones, as of Sunday, will have been staying at the Savoy for 21 days.

The BBC which receives all TV licensing fees has been heavily criticised for using £150000 of this money to pay for Tom Jone's hotel bill. The company makes over £3 billion from TV licensing every year, according to their financial report, as such this bill is comparatively miniscule to their overall income. Surely someone should have asked exactly how this vast sum of money is spent before now?

Brian May Says He 'Hates' To See Tom Jones Lower Himself On The Voice

Tom Jones Brian May

Brian May, the man who single handedly killed rock and roll when he climbed to the top of Buckingham Palace to play 'God Save The Queen,' has unleashed a scathing attack on the BBC talent series The Voice. One thing about the show that got the veteran rocker particularly riled up was the presence of Sir Tom Jones, who he feels is much to good for the 'vile' show.

In a statement posted on his website, the guitarist attacks the format of the show in particular, as well as voicing his sheer disappointment towards the fact that Tom Jones is one of the stars of the show. His comments only touch on the show itself and Jone's appearance, failing to mention any of the other panelists; will.i.am, Danny O'Donoghue and Jessie J (who May and Roger Taylor let trample on the grave of Freddie Mercury during the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics). In his online outburst, May writes; "Sorry, hate to be negative but The Voice is the dullest, dumbest, most depressing show on TV," continuing, "it’s the ultimate insult to music and to performers."

The Voice And All Four Judges Are Set To Return In 2013

Jessie J Tom Jones

All four judges of the UK series The Voice, which has been an enormous export to the US, are set to return for another series. Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones, Danny O'Donahue (from The Script) and Will.i.am will all be returning for another season.

The Voice has fared much better in America where viewing figures have soared, but the first series in the UK did not do so well, with ratings trailing off after the blind auditions ended, according to the BBC, however it did average at 9.2 million viewers overall. The format from the original show may change to boost viewing figures, which O'Donahue would welcome, reportedly. Apparently Mark Linsey has said that there may be less live shows in the next series. There had been rumours that Sir Tom Jones wouldn't return, but after the confirmation that it will return Digital Spy have reported him saying: ""I'm really looking forward to seeing and working with Jessie, Will and Danny on the second series ofThe Voice. I've heard there will be some important changes that will make what is already a good, strong show even better."

Likewise Jessie J said in her book that was published this summer that she'd steer clear of it, if it were return, but had a change of heart after it had gone to print. She said "I'm so happy to be back as one of the original four for series two. It's going to be even bigger and better this time and I can't wait. Bring it on." The new series is set to air in spring of next year (2013).

Robbie Williams: Jessie J's Career Will Last 18 Months, Tops

Robbie Williams Take That Jessie J Tom Jones Will.i.am The Script

Robbie Williams battled to the No.1 spot with his new album Take The Crown on Sunday (November 11, 2012), though the Take That man had a few choice word for his chart rivals. Speaking on a Dutch television show, the 'Angels' hit-maker fired a barb at chart-topper Jessie J.

Asked about the Do It Like A Dude star, Robbie said, “She’s not gonna last for very long, though, is she? She’s great, Jessie. I give her 18 months,” according to The Sun. It seems he isn’t a fan of her reality show The Voice either. He said, “I don’t watch it. Sometimes it’s very difficult to go on the ‘emotional journey with the contestants’. I’m exhausted with how many times I’m to go on the emotional journey with this person who had a hard luck story and then da, da, da, da, blah, blah…I’m sure I’d be a good judge but no, I’ve got a career.” Ouch. We’re pretty sure the remarks won’t go down too well with Jessie’s fellow judges Tom Jones, Will.i.am and the other bloke from The Script either.

Robbie is actually at No.1 in both the singles and albums chart this week ('Candy' and Take The Crown), a feat he managed in 2001 when his single 'Something Stupid' reached the top-spot at the same time as his covers album Swing When You’re Winning.

Adele To Sing The New James Bond Theme ‘Skyfall’

Adele is to join the ranks of the musical elite, having been chosen to sing the theme to the new James Bond movie “Skyfall”.

The song, “Skyfall” which shares its name with the title of the film, has been written by Paul Epworth. Rumours of her involvement with the Bond franchise were put in place when she “hinted she would be working on [a 'special project'] during an interview on Jonathan Ross's chat show on ITV1 in September 2011” (BBC).

The history of the James Bond theme includes only the best and most iconic of musicians and bands, including Sir Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Madonna, Tina Turner, Tom Jones and most recently a collaboration between Jack White and Alicia Keys.

Tom Jones, Praise and Blame Album Review

Predictably, the concept of Praise and Blame has repetitively been likened to that of the late Johnny Cash and his own covers album American IV: The Man Comes Around. And it's a fair observation, it's hard to imagine the idea coming from anywhere else, this too is a stripped down covers album, if not a little less sombre than Cash's latter day effort but is similar in its intentions to attract a newer audience.

There is also the little matter of the 'controversy' that surrounds the release of this album, whether you bought into the record company vice chairman's 'leaked email' to colleagues, enquiring whether Jones's latest effort was 'some sick joke?' Or if you're the cynical kind, that saw it as a blatant publicity stunt, you can't deny that it has raised the profile of Praise and Blame and stopped it from slipping under the radar.

But what of the oh so controversial content of the album? Well the truth is, it's not very risky at all. These are by no means hymns as they were previously labelled. Also the fact that this idea has been executed before becomes an irrelevance due to the fact that nobody would've foreseen this kind of musical direction from the legendary Welshman, in this, his 39th studio album. And who can blame Mr Jones for taking a more credible route? Gone are the cheesy collaborations with the likes of Cerrys Mathews and Kelly Jones, and in their place, soulful earthy covers that cast him in a far better light artistically.

This album was recorded live, and it shows. There are heavy helpings of untamed passion throughout, and fiery John Lee Hooker song Burning Hell, gets more helpings than any other on the album. It brims with biblical anxiety as Jones resigns himself to a dark fate over some rather fitting, scuzzy guitar playing.

It's on the more energetic high tempo tracks that Jones shines most, the blues infused Lord Help pays testament to that, as Jones bellows 'Lord help the war torn people in this world' before organs intricately come together with some irresistible riffs. The same can be said for Don't Knock, which sees Jones vocals aided by some powerful backing vocals. It's only short at 2:15 but it has a kick to it, making it impossible to pass by without notice.

Jones's detractors might be right, Praise and Blame probably won't reach the commercial heights of 1999's Reload, but then Tom Jones doing pop music, really wouldn't wash these days anyway. Tom Jones has made an album that forms a credible and graceful chapter in his long and successful career.

All the dancing, singing, and mindbogglingly stupid antics of off-Broadway's longest-running embarrassment can now be experienced at a cinema near you.

Set deep in rural America, this is the story of two neighboring fathers who fake a feud in order to trick their children into courtship. Of course, the young man and woman (played by Joe McIntyre and Jean Louisa Kelly, respectively) are easily duped and everything is going as planned. That is, until the circus comes to town. And that's when the moronic singing starts.

Weak
We've already had three movies based on TV shows this year, plus a film based on a TV commercial, but I think it's a really bad omen when a film is based on a series of trading cards.

The film is Mars Attacks!, and with it Tim Burton serves up the worst production of his once-blossoming career, a movie wherein he indulges every excess of his demented psyche, pays no attention to entertaining the audience, and recycles every joke he can get his hands on.
