Toni Braxton was hospitalized in Los Angeles on Friday.

The singer broke the news over Twitter, sounding remarkably casual about the ordeal. "Hey guys, I'm in the hospital for health issues related to Lupus & Blood clots, I will be home soon...", Braxton wrote. The singer announced two years ago that she has been diagnosed with the condition and has been experiencing occasional flare-ups like the one that landed her in the hospital last January. Braxton has talked to TMZ, stating that “she wanted to clear the record before rumors started.”

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a dangerous autoimmune condition, in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells. It is most common with middle-aged women, which is precisely Braxton’s age group. This is just the last in a series of health problems the singer has had in the last few years. In 2008, she had to cancel a series of concerts in Las Vegas after receiving treatment for pericarditis, a viral inflammation of the heart and last year she had a benign tumour removed from her breast.

The singer’s health is once again in question, however this time, at least, it isn’t interfering with her career. Throughout this, Braxton has remained positive, thanking her family and her fans for their support on numerous occasions.
