Tori Spelling's husband, actor Dean McDermott, announced today he has entered rehab to address "some health and personal issues."

The 47-year-old actor released a statement earlier today, as People reports, which reads: "I am truly sorry for the mistakes I have made and for the pain I've caused my family. I take full responsibility for my actions and have voluntarily checked myself into a treatment centre to address some health and personal issues. I am grateful to be getting the help I need so I can become the husband and father my family deserves."

Spelling and McDermott's marriage has been under scrutiny since rumours circulated which suggested McDermott may have cheated on his wife of almost 7 years.

Sources, speaking to the US entertainment website, claim Spelling is putting on a brave face for the sake of her four children, aged between 6 and 15 months. However, a separate source who claimed to be a close friend of Spelling's, claimed the actress and author is "devastated" by rumours of McDermott's infidelity.

McDermott is best known for appearing in the television show Due South as Constable Turnbull, whilst his second wife, Spelling, is best remembered starring in Beverly Hills 90210. The couple, despite appearing infrequently in film and television productions, have remained in the public eye owing to their two reality shows: Tori & Dean: Inn Love and Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood

Over the past year there have also been reports the couple recorded a sex tape which was acquired by, possibly illegally, by one of their friends. A porn company even went so far as to issue an offer for the tape, but the couple declined. This scandal coincided with reports suggesting Spelling and McDermott may be in financial difficulty.

It could be that this latest development may be the last straw for Spelling as one of People's sources added "She could stay with him or not. God only knows."

McDermott is not the only celebrity to admit he has a problem this week as ABC presenter, Elizabeth Vargas, admitted she is an alcoholic and is seeking help to address her health problems.
