It's good to be honest, so let's get this out of the way; Treetop Flyers are not an original band. Yes, their EP To Bury The Past is pleasant, enjoyable and cosy. But most definitely not original.

The UK has become a hotbed of folk over the past couple of years, with the likes of Noah and the Whale and Mumford and Sons enjoying success by plucking their guitars and growing matching beards.

'Mountain Song' is full of emotional harmonies, gathering momentum as it progresses; with the band's guitars and lead singer Reid Morrison's drawling vocals, it sets up camp for the entire EP.

'Rose Is In The Yard' is an enjoyable track with sweet vocals and is the most obvious occasion where the band is enjoying their music. 'Is It All Worth It?' showcases the band's acoustic guitar plucking and, along with 'Old Days', mixes more established folk influences with those of the present day. It's difficult to be impolite about this EP when it's all so very quaint.

To Bury The Past is for those who like nicely-crafted sweet songs, but Treetop Flyers might have a tough time balancing the familiar with the predictable; often the former is comforting, but not everybody likes knowing what is coming next.

It would be so easy to dismiss Treetop Flyers and suggest they are hoping to ride on the back of similar bands successes. However, whilst the band lacks any outstanding tracks at the moment, this is a solid EP which indicates that there may be more from them in the future.
