The movie, produced through Styler's Maven Pictures, will be based on Zelda la Grange's book Good Morning, Mr. Mandela, which centres on the author's friendship with the late political leader in the years following his release from prison until his death in 2013.

It is unclear when the movie will start filming, but the news comes days after Styler announced she is teaming with Jessica Chastain's newly formed production company, Freckle Films, to make films focused on women.

Styler is also set to make her feature film directorial debut with the big screen adaptation of James St. James' bestseller Freak Show, starring Bette Midler and AnnaSophia Robb.
