Two Door Cinema Club (Formed 2007)
Two Door Cinema Club is a Northern Irish Indie Rock band, consisting of the members Alex Trimble (vocals, rhythm guitar, beats, synths), Sam Halliday (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Kevin Baird (bass, synths, backing vocals).
They are best known for their songs, "What You Know" and "Something Good Can Work".
Formation: Trimble and Halliday met whilst at the same school together, Bangor Grammer School.
They also met Baird here.
At the age of 16, the three performed as a band together on ATL Rock School under the name "Life Without Rory", but they finished last.
Before disbanding, "Life Without Rory" recorded 3 demos, which are on their inactive Myspace page and YouTube channel.
Trimble, Halliday, and Baird formed a new band shortly after.
The name came about when Halliday mispronounced the local cinema as "Tudor cinema".
Music Career: In January 2009, an EP called "Four Words To Stand On" was released.
It was self recorded and produced.
The band started recording their debut album in July 2009.
They began mixing the record in September 2009.
"Tourist History" was released on 26th February 2010.
Its singles, "Something Good Can Work", "I Can Talk", and "Undercover Martyn" preceded it.
They announced on the 20th June 2012 that "Beacon" would be the title of their new album.
"Sleep Alone" was selected as the albums lead single.
The second single to be released from the album was "Sun".
They announced in December 2012 that they would be performing at T In The Park in July 2013.
Trimble later announced that the band had left Kitsune and signed with Parlophone Records.
In August 2013, the band announced that a new EP was going to be released, titled "Changing Of The Seasons".
"Tourist History" won 'Choice Music Prize' for Irish Album of the year 2010, in 2011.
"Undercover Martyn" came number 21, and "I Can Talk" came number 72 on the Triple J Hottest 100 in 2010.
"Sun" came number 37, and "Sleep Alone" came number 90 in the 2012 Triple J hottest 100.
In 2013, "Changing Of The Seasons" came number 71 on the same poll.
The band has received numerous nominations for NME awards.
They were nominated for best new band in 2011, and their album "Tourist History" was nominated for best album.
Hey were also nominated for best live band in 2012, and in 2014 they were nominated for best British band.
The band toured after the release of their album "Tourist History" in March 2010.
They also performed at many festivals including the iTunes festival, T In The Park, Reading & Leeds festival, and Oxegen.
Their 2010 Eastern tour saw them perform in Australia, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
The band went on a 2-week tour in January 2011.
They travelled the US and Canada, along with Tokyo Police Club, Work Drugs, and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin.
They also performed at Orange Evolution Festival in 2011.
They also performed at many other festivals, including Glastonbury, Coachella, Isle Of White, Reading & Leeds, Parklife, and many more.
In November 2011, the band toured around America again.
They went on tour in South Africa in March 2012.
In May and June 2012, the band completed two American tours whilst also headlining the 2012 NME awards tour at the start of the year.
The band went on a full UK tour in 2013, starting in Belfast and finishing in London.
They were supported by Bastille and Swim Deep.
After this they went on tour in Europe, with support from The 1975 and Dig Is Dead.
From Bastille to The Raconteurs, here's June's most exciting upcoming releases.
The indie and pop worlds go hand in hand when it comes to releasing super infectious and thoroughly uplifting tunes. June promises to get the summer off to an anthemic start with these seven albums, which you should definitely have on pre-order.
Bastille - Doom Days
It feels longer than three years since Wild World, but I suppose that's just down to how good it was. It's no surprise then that we're super excited for Bastille's third album Doom Days which promises to be both euphoric and emotional, as indeed we've already seen from the title track and newest single Joy.

2016 has seen vinyl albums sore, great new artists emerge and a great loss of musical talent in the industry.
The Last Shadow Puppets - Everything you've Come to Expect
An 8 year wait marks a return for duo the Last Shadow Puppets offering Everything you've Come to Expect and my number one in the top 10 of 2016. Aviation is charming and seductive being described as psychedelic pop hooking the listening from the get go. Miracle Aligner, Everything you've Come to Expect and Bad Habits all have lyrics and roll of the tongue song titles with its smart production of James Ford with a simple yet effective sound.

When you think of the words alternative spirit you think -upbeat, raucous indie-pop music and that's exactly what this new PIAS compilation album provides. The album consists of 39 tracks from artists such as Roisin Murphy, Basement Jaxx and Fleet Foxes.
Alt-J's Left 'Hand Free' is a fun opening track with its catchy hooks and upbeat melodies - a perfect intro that leads into The Black Keys track 'Tighten Up' which is one of the compilations many highlights. With a raw, blues sound it's everything you'd want (and expect) from a Black Keys track.
One of the more guitar heavy tracks comes courtesy of Bloc Party and their contribution '3x3'. Its hard-hitting vocal and frantic playing remind us just how good their album 'Four' (which the song was featured on) was.

Coastline Festival 2013 brings the hottest indie bands from the UK and US to Florida this November.
Florida's Coastline Festival 2013 is set to arrive in less than two weeks, bringing with it a handful of the recent indie and rock sensations as well as great beer and great food.
The festival will hit the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa on November 9th 2013 before moving to the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm on the 10th. It describes itself as a 'A Musiculinary Experience' - and that it certainly will be with an absolutely stellar line-up led by Massachusetts' Passion Pit, whose second album Gossamer was in the top five on the US Album Chart last year, and Irish collective Two Door Cinema Club who topped their Nation's charts with their sophomore release.

Jimmy Kimmel's reporters convinced Coachella fans to go see The Chelsea Clintons. Who they already love. Of course.
Ok, so there's plenty of serious music fans at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, though there's also those who have no idea who they're watching, where they are, or why they're there. You've seen them wandering around - they chose their festival outfit about 6 months ago. Anyway, Jimmy Kimmel skewered plenty of fake music fans at this year's festival by getting them to gush about bands that, err, don't actually exist. "Music fans in general love knowing about bands that no one else has ever heard of," Jimmy Kimmel said as he introduced a Coachella edition of his 'Lie Witness News.'
Sending his cameras into the maelstrom, Kimmel caught one guy saying of the completely fictitious Obesity Epidemic, "I just like their whole style. Their whole genre is great. They are very innovative, and they're new." Other fake bands included Get The.Out Of My Pool and our personal favourite The Chelsea Clintons. "I think they just give off that energy, like you can just tell they're doing it from a good place," said one reveller of the band.
The reporter was keen to push, Doctor Shlmo and the GI Clinic, which one gig-goer said she was "really excited to see them live.." and Shorty Jizzle and the Plumbercrucks were described as "unique for sure". Two Door Cinema Club were the only real band used in the segment, though one music 'fan' said he'd enjoyed their album 'DJ Cornmeal'. Doh!

After a 2012 that saw them hit major chart success in both the UK and the US, Northern Ireland's Two Door Cinema Club sought to start their 2013 with an intimate show at the Baroque Mayfair in London, watched on by a smattering of guests including current flavor of the month Alt-J's Gus Unger-Hamilton and MTV Europe presenter Laura Whitmore.
