Van Halen 's reunion with David Lee Roth at the helm is officially gathering pace, after it was revealed that the much-loved hair metal band have revealed the new single from their forthcoming comeback album 'A Different Kind Of Truth' and its video. 'Tattoo' is the first material the Van Halen brothers have worked on with Roth since 1984 and their album of the same name.
The video for the song was shot at The Roxy in Hollywood - the black and white the clip shows the band looking in good form, with an energetic Roth taking centre stage as he always used to do as charismatic front man. The Huffington Post reports that music site Stereogum has dismissed the song itself as "bathroom-break metal" though disagrees itself, arguing - possible with tongue-in-cheek - that the line "I got Elvis/on my elbow/and when I flex/Elvis talks"? "Sexy dragon magic"? "So very autobiographic" represents some "quality tattoo commentary."
The band's intimate show in New York last week will live long in the memory of those in attendance, with the group running through their entire arsenal of hits - sans those written with Sammy Hagar - including 'Running With The Devil,' Everybody Wants Some!!,' 'Dance The Night Away' and encore 'Jump.' They'll be unleashing a full world tour starting in February.
