Sounds From A Big Town

3 CD Box Set From Huddersfield

This 3 CD Box Set had been compiled by Timeless Music Project, Huddersfield’s Community Record Label. The idea of this compilation was born from the Timeless Music Festival that is held in the summer at Ravensknowle Park in Huddersfield. We have to thank independent record label Chocolate Fireguard for pushing the festival and creating an opportunity of exposure for local talent. ‘Sounds From A Big Town’ has now been created showcasing acts that have been connected to the Timeless Music Festival over the past 3 years.

‘Sounds From A Big Town’ - 3 CD Box Set From Huddersfield - 3 CD Box Set Review

CD 1 is Urban, Hip Hop and Chill music. The production is really cool and this CD really captures that ‘Big Chill’ vibe. There’s real professionalism in the beats and a nice variety of different styles. The MC’s flex in their own original way and there’s even a world feel connected to this CD. CD 2 is Guitar music and it showcases lots of emerging talent from the area. From the quirky Being 747 ‘Use Your Friends’, to the solid riffs of Dwell ‘Bring It’, to laid back folky style of Dave Davidson & Karl Perkins ‘Broken Falling’. CD 3 has a real variety of dance music, all well produced and of good quality. Blue Amazon ‘5000FT’ kicks of the CD with a deep house sound that definitely deserves recognition. There’s also the talented Rachel Modest from The Blue Foot Project appearing with Forbidden Planet on ‘Fly Away’ who captures a real soul diva sound to this track.

Overall every CD is of good quality and shows a lot of variety specific to that music genre. It’s real testament to Timeless Music Project who have certainly done Huddersfield proud and provided a successful CD. It goes to show that West Yorkshire is becoming a strong musical force in the UK music industry.
