U.S. network bosses at VH1 have axed plans to air a new reality TV show featuring disgraced American football star Chad Johnson following his weekend (11Aug12) arrest for domestic violence.
The wide receiver, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, was taken into custody in Miami, Florida on Saturday night (11Aug12) after an argument with his new wife Evelyn Lozada allegedly turned physical.
Lozada required hospital treatment for a cut to her forehead after Johnson reportedly headbutted her, and the sportsman was held overnight at Broward County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanour simple domestic battery.
His arrest prompted club bosses at the Miami Dolphins to drop him from the team, and now he has lost a second lucrative contract with Vh1 TV executives, who were due to begin broadcasting his reality show Ev and Ocho next month (Sep12).
A Vh1 representative tells Tmz.com: "Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, Vh1 is pulling the series 'Ev and Ocho' from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it."
The programme, which was shot earlier this year (12), followed the couple in the months leading up to their wedding on 4 July (12).
