The Spice Girls, consisting of Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, and Geri Halliwell, formed in 1994 and went on indefinite hiatus in 2000. The group had already suffered a serious blow when Geri Halliwell left the band in 1998, citing differences between her fellow group members as the reason for her departure. Although the group reunited in 2007 and again in 2012, there were still plenty of rumours circulating surrounding the nature of their relationship.

Beckham seems to have put an end to the rumours and did not allude to any past difficulties between group members. The group were made up of individuals who auditioned for to be a member and Beckham also alluded to the highly competitive audition process during the interview.

"I hadn’t met any of the girls until we were all put in the group... I'm still very close with the girls," Beckham revealed, as Us Weekly reports."They're all really, really great girls."

Beckham also explained what she believed was the key factor to the astronomical success of the group.

"I think people liked the fact that we were real," Beckham revealed "We weren’t choreographed... normal girls could relate to us. And our method was it doesn’t matter if you’re a little bit different. That’s where girl power came from. Just be who you are, be proud of who you are."
