Ben Stiller And Vince Vaughn Reunite For (Very) Brief Charity 'Dodgeball' Sequel

Ben Stiller Vince Vaughn

Recent years in cinema have been plagued by a spate of ill-advised re-makes of classic noughties comedies. Seriously, nobody would wish a screening of the appalling sequels to Anchorman or Zoolander on their worst enemy.

However, the team behind the 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story have come up with a rather better idea that doesn't necessitate a full-length sequel, with its stars Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn coming together to reprise their characters for a short and sweet video clip for a charity initiative launched by Omaze on Wednesday (June 14th).

The four-minute clip sees Peter LaFleur (Vaughn) and the annoying White Goodman (Stiller) offering a select few lucky fans the chance to actually play dodgeball with them. Entrants can sign up either for Vaughn’s Average Joe’s team, or for Stiller’s Globo-Gym outfit.

So, "True Detective" Season 2 Will Star Colin Farrell And Vince Vaughn. Who's Next?

Vince Vaughn Colin Farrell

Another one of those True Detective rumours has been confirmed – Vince Vaughn has indeed signed on for a part in the show’s second season. HBO confirmed that news that Vaughn and Colin Farrell will co-star in the brand new story that Nic Pizzolatto and co. are working on. There’s a twist though – Vaughn and Farrell will not join forces onscreen, a la Rust and Marty. Instead, Vaughn will play the criminal to Farrell’s cop character. Irish actor Farrell, 38, will star as compromised detective Ray Velcoro and Vaughn, 44, will star as criminal mastermind Frank Semyon in the drama’s next run.

Vince Vaughn
Vaughn fits in with True Detective's strategy of casting older, established film actors, which helped the first season's popularity.

Specifically, the latter will take on the role of a “career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner” – description courtesy of HBO’s statement, via Entertainment Weekly.

Delivery Man: Do Remakes Really Work?

Vince Vaughn Ken Scott

Barely two years after the French-language Canadian comedy Starbuck became a sleeper hit, writer-director Ken Scott was hired by Hollywood to shoot an American remake called Delivery Man.

Delivery ManDelivery Man hasn't proved to be Vince Vaughn's finest hour

By all appearances, he didn't bother rewriting the script at all, merely shifting the action from Montreal to New York and casting Vince Vaughn in the lead role as a man who discovers that he has more than 500 children as a result of youthful sperm donation.

Is Wilson And Vaughn's 'The Internship' Just A Big Wet Kiss To Google?

Vince Vaughn Owen Wilson

This should have worked. This really should have worked. The Internship - the new offering from Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson - is a buddy comedy about salesmen Billy and Nick whose careers are torpedoed by the digital world. In attempt to prove their worth in the contemporary world, the guys land internships at Google, along with a group of precocious students and have to compete among the nation's most elite tech savvy employees. Sounds...sort of great, doesn't it? Well it's not, apparently.

There was always the danger that this thing could turn into a love letter to one of the world's biggest corporations - which it really doesn't need - and it doesn't appear that Wilson and Vaughn have steered completely clear of that potential hazard. "The Internship is a big wet kiss to Google wrapped in a buddy comedy that asks us to believe that nobody over 40 knows anything about computers or the online universe," said Linda Barnard of the Toronto Star. Time Out New York called it, "A movie sorely bereft of ideas, laughs and justification for the comic duo's undifferentiating self-regard," though the Washington Post made it clear that, although the movie doesn't quite work, it's not through lack of trying from Vaughn and Wilson. The newspaper's critic Jen Chaney wrote, "The fact that this overlong, often preposterous comedy succeeds at all (which it does, only occasionally) proves that the Vaughn/Wilson charm can still work a measure of magic."

Nevertheless, The Internship should perform reasonably well at the box-office this week (perhaps in the $15 million range), though audiences will have to forgive Vince Vaughn's two consecutive under-performing efforts (The Dilemma, The Watch) and put faith in his reteaming with Wilson.

Vince Vaughn & Owen Wilson Have A Job On Winning People Over In The Internship: Review Round-Up

Vince Vaughn Owen Wilson

Vince Vaughn stars and writes the new comedy The Internship, bringing in the often used help of Owen Wilson to co-star and co-writer Jared Stern (Wreck-It Ralph,The Watch) with him for buddy comedy. Bringing in the help of fellow light-hearted comedy veteran Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum) to direct, the film finds two recently unemployed, down on their luck average Joe's (Vaughn and Wilson), whose lives it seems have been made redundant by the digital age. Some how though (it's a movie) the pair manage to talk their way into a job a Google each; and soon realise how out of their depth they are. Don't worry though, because with their infinite wisdom of partying, the boys soon make friends.

'The Internship' Reviews – Sorry Guys, This Job's Not For You

Vince Vaughn Owen Wilson

This is how internships go: you slog away unpaid for a few weeks until, hopefully, the boss turns around and hands you a contract. The Internship slogs away for a couple hours and no one’s offering Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson a salary.

Watch Vince and Owen chat about The Internship

The critics haven’t taken kindly to the comedy pair’s attempt to shed light on the modern phenomenon that is an internship. This is a shame, as it’s a story that needs telling. Thousands of hungry job-seekers turn to internships – an attempt to wow a company by literally working for free – to secure full time employment. “The polar opposite of The Social Network, say RedEye in their review, “depicting innovation and intelligence as if they're merely the fruits of ideas burped out by an aging slacker who doesn't know when to shut up.” USA Today joked: “Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson may be the worst interns since Monica Lewinsky,” while The New York Post say, “Director Shawn Levy's work has, as always, all the edge of a tub of margarine - he's the guy who did "Night at the Museum." And "The Internship" has the air of a promotional video for Google.”

Some were shocked and others relieved when news broke this week that Tom Cruise has dropped out of starring in Guy Ritchie's new Man From U.N.C.L.E. movie. Meanwhile, Juno Temple arrived to talk about her role as a mentally disturbed young woman in the upcoming film Magic Magic. She stars opposite Michael Cera, and mentions a wrenching confrontation as her favourite scene in the film, which was screened as part of the Director's Fortnight at Cannes.

Vince Vaughn Looks Set To Bring Laughs In The Delivery Man Trailer [Video]

Vince Vaughn Cobie Smulders Chris Pratt

The Delivery Man is the new comedy from writer/director Ken Scott (Starbuck) and what looks to be one of the outsider bets for the year's best comedy blockbuster. With Vince Vaughn as the titular deliverer, the film also has nods to TV comedy faithfuls Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) and Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) and looks as though it could deliver for cinema-goers after a good laugh.

Vaughn stars as a loveable slacker who finds out that he has fathered over 500 children thanks to an anonymous donation he made to a sperm bank two decades ago. When the families discover only one sperm donor was used for so many people a lawsuit is brought against the sperm-bank demanding that they reveal the father of their children, leaving Vaughn's character in a delicate situation where he must decide to either come forward of keep his head down, a decision not helped by the less-than-helpful tips from his best friend (Pratt).

The film is Vaughn's third comedy of the year, with the actor teaming up with long-time collaborator and friend Owen Wilson for The Internship this summer, whilst he will also be reprising his role as Wes Mantooth in the long-awaited Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues later this year. With Smulders' career on the rise thanks largely to the Avengers movie, Pratt is also experiencing a well-deserved boost in movie exposure, appearing in Spike Jonze's latest project, Her, The Lego Movie and the upcoming Marvel spectacle Guardians of the Galaxy in the coming months.

With a lawyer who thinks the best course of action is to plead insanity in court, David must consider whether or not he should follow his intrigue and come forward, or retreat and fight for his anonymity. Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind return in this hilarious sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' which saw Ron land himself a hot girlfriend, get attacked by a bear and have his dog thrown over a bridge by an angry biker. The legendary San Diego news anchors are doubtlessly set to entertain us with more news casting exploits which, according to the latest teaser trailer, will involve 'submachine guns and boobies' and getting 'stinky'. One thing's for sure, it's going to be funnier, weirder and much ruder.

Ron Burgundy Is Coming With Better Hair Than Ever In New Anchorman 2 Trailer

Will Ferrell Paul Rudd Vince Vaughn Christina Applegate Kanye West Kristen Wiig Amy Poehler Tina Fey Drake Harrison Ford

As the excitement builds for the Anchorman sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, another trailer for the film was released. You can check out the second trailer, featuring the beloved cast of Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Vince Vaughn and Steve Carell. But we already knew they were in it and, exciting as that prospect is, the cameos, which have been announced recently, make this movie look even better. Viewers will get appearances by actors like Kanye West, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, Jim Carrey, Tina Fey and Harrison Ford, New York Daily News reports.

And the cameos just keep coming. After Kanye West, busy as he is, wrapped his scenes in New York last week, there was another surprising appearance on set – namely an actor, sporting a fro and the appropriate 70s duds, who looked suspiciously like singer/rapper Drake. Apparently the "Take Care" performer will be the latest star in the constellation already appearing in this film. Not only that, but the Daily News also posted several pictures of stars Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate taken during shooting. They look fierce, they look ready to go, but most of all, they look, unsurprisingly, very 70s. And if nothing else, the stills make it obvious that Anchorman 2 will definitely feature some excellent hairdos.

The Internship - Clip

Former salesmen Billy and Nick are left unemployed after the owner of the company that they work for decides to become an internet only business rendering their door-to-door techniques obsolete. In a bid to get back on the career ladder, Billy manages to land them an online, webcam interview with internet giant Google which, admittedly, could've gone better. After initially establishing themselves as illiterate in the way of computers by shouting at their potential employers through a machine at a public library, they managed to cause them great alarm, not to mention confusion, with an animated description of what they would do if they were shrunk to the size of a nickel and placed in a blender. An odd question for a job interview, but possibly not one this wacky duo haven't thought about before.

Kanye West Spotted Filming Anchorman 2 On Atlanta Rooftops

Kanye West Will Ferrell Paul Rudd Christina Applegate Nicole Kidman Harrison Ford Vince Vaughn Luke Wilson

Kanye West appears to have landed himself a cameo in the Anchorman sequel after Hollywood.com reported he was spotted filming with Christina Applegate and Paul Rudd on a downtown Atlanta rooftop. It's safe to assume Anchorman 2 was the movie being filmed, with Kanye thought to be making a very brief cameo.

The eyewitness said, "he was quite afraid of heights and required an umbrella for shade most of the time he was on the roof." The Anchorman 2 production began in Atlanta in the past few weeks filming scenes in Woodruff Park and the surrounding areas, many of which have been captured by the prying eyes of the paparazzi. Writer and producer Will Ferrell is apparently a long-time hero of Kanye's, having included his dialogue from Blades of Glory in his song N*ggas In Paris. Following his infamous Taylor Swift/MTV VMA's controversy, Kanye compared himself to Ron Burgundy in a Twitter rant.

The sighting comes just 24 hours after Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were see beating up co-star Sacha Baron Cohen with crowbars! The rumors are that Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson have also filmed very brief performances at the Atlanta set, while Nicole Kidman will be featured in a "secret" un-credited role, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Harrison Ford will be a news anchor in the new movie.

Vince Vaughn – Kid Number Two Is On The Way

Vince Vaughn

Vince Vaughn is expecting another child. It’s official, as the words came out of his very mouth, straight into the ears of Ellen DeGeneres, her audience, and everyone else in the world once the show is live.

“We’re expecting our second child,” the Dodgeball star told Ellen in an online clip of the pre-taped chat. “Yeah, we’re very excited.” His wife, Kyla Weber, is due in early August. “I met the best girl in the world,” he said. “It gives you such a great purpose in your life. ... I’m very, very happy." Talking after his engagement, he told People magazine: “It’s the first time that I really want to have kids,” “I’ve been very fortunate in my career, and my life has been about that for so long that you get bored of it. You’re ready for your life to be about other people and other things.” The Vaughns wed in January 2010, and the actor's real estate agent wife welcomed daughter Locklyn 11 months later.

Dodgeball 2 – Yeah You Heard, It’s The Return Of The Underdog

Ben Stiller Vince Vaughn

Fans of the Stiller school of comedy should pop muzzles over their easily impressed faces, as Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story will resurrect itself in the form of a sequel. The name? Well it’s Dodgeball 2 of course.

It’s not really surprising that a sequel has been ordered. What is surprising, though, is that it’s taken this long to come to fruition. The film was a huge hit in the box office, and made more than 114 million US dollars in the States. “It's really hard to get most movies made," Ben Stiller said about the current state of the industry. "Especially independent films, and even just regular, mid-range budgeted dramas. The genre movies and sequels are obviously what becomes the thing." He’s not wrong there. 20th Century Fox can guarantee in increase on the first film’s gross, given everyone who went to see it at the cinema will want to catch the sequel, and taking into account inflation. It’s a sure-fire winner, and one that the film’s stars Stiller and Vince Vaughn were just waiting to cash in on.

Ben Stiller Hires American Rock Guitarist To Pen 'Dodgeball 2'

Ben Stiller Vince Vaughn Clay Tarver

Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films has hired American guitarist and writer Clay Tarver to pen the script for Dodgeball 2, the follow-up to the 2004 hit comedy. The production company run by Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld have gotten the go-ahead from Fox to make a sequel and quickly confirmed Tarver as the screenwriter.

Tarver was co-founder and lead guitarist with Boston hard rock band Bullet LaVolta, though is perhaps best known for his work with Chavez , the progressive hard rock band that he formed with Matt Sweeney, Scott Marshall and James Lo in the 90s. He later turned his hand to writing and co-writer the 2001 thriller Joy Ride with Star Wars Episode 7 director J.J. Abrams. Tarver is currently working on Quantum Hoops, another movie being produced by Red Hour, about a nerdy basketball team at Caltech. He wrote the movie Men Making Music, about the world of competitive barbershop quartets and worked with Mike Judge on Meat In The Freezer, a satire about hunting for HBO films.

Dodgeball, which grossed over $114 million domestically, centered on a group of misfits gym workers who enter a dodgeball competition in order to defeat an encroaching corporate gym run by Stiller. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn will star in the sequel, though it's unclear whether the likes of Christine Taylor, Justin Long and Jason Bateman will return. The plot will reportedly see the former rivals teaming up to thwart an even bigger threat in the fitness world.

The Watch Review

Weak
You'd think that a film written by Stern (the surprisingly witty Mr Popper's Penguins) and Rogen/Goldberg (the hilarious Superbad and Pineapple Express) and starring a reliably funny cast would be a safe bet for a fun night out in the cinema. Well, unless your sense of humour is on par with a 12-year-old boy, guess again. With a sour tone and jokes that have no punchlines, this is a relentlessly unfunny comedy that shifts into an unexciting alien invasion thriller.

Stiller stars as Evan, an overachiever who can't bring himself to tell his loving wife (DeWitt) that he's sterile. When there's a murder in the super-store he manages, he forms a neighbourhood watch group with three losers: Bob (Vaughn) is struggling to cope with his teen daughter, Franklin (Hill) has an unhealthy obsession with guns, and Jemarcus (Ayoade) is a goofy sex addict.

All three would rather drink beer and play stupid games than keep their community safe. But then they discover that the killer was actually an alien who is leading an invasion of Earth.

The Watch Trailer

The Watch are Costco manager Evan, father of a teenage daughter Bob, police reject Franklin and Jamarcus who seeks the love of a beautiful woman. Evan formed the Watch after his wife Abby forced him to move to the suburbs of Glenview, Ohio in an attempt to escape the mundaneness of his daily family life. The others, with same mindset, soon followed despite the persistent mockery from local kids and police officers that came along with it. Once they obtain their team jackets that truly scream don't-mess-with-us with their tiger/ wings/ fire emblems 'All on the same logo!', they are ready to sniff out the covert aliens of the town. What they weren't betting on was actually finding anything so when their vehicle collides with something in the road, coming across a splatter of your average mysterious green slime came as a bit of a surprise. They discover a mystifying ball of some sort that they eventually recognise as a deadly weapon after obliterating a cow with a beam of energy. The Watch realise that they must be the ones to defend their planet from this extra-terrestrial threat.

Lay the Favourite Trailer

Vivacious ex-dancer Beth reaches gambler's paradise Las Vegas in the hope of becoming a cocktail waitress. She meets keen gambler Dink Heimowitz who immediately warms to her, seeing her for her true potential rather than the ditzy thirty-something-year-old that it is easy to assume she is. He invites her to join his team, who have found a way to work Vegas' sportsbook system, as a lucky charm apparently giving him a miraculous winning streak contrary to his wife Tulip who he sees as a jinx. Soon he starts to suffer a few consecutive losses and Beth becomes ever more fond of him forcing him to dismiss her leaving her heartbroken. She retreats to New York to her trusty Jeremy who loyally succumbs to her charms. He is working for an illegal but successful bookie, Rosie, who flies her to his Caribbean island to supervise his growing kingdom. Beth begins to realise the instability and danger of working for Rosie, and tentatively contacts Dink and Tulip for their help. They unite in an attempt to tackle the potential jeopardy that they all may just fall into.

Blackball Review

Weak
Apparently there is a sport in Britain with the awkward name of "lawn bowls" that is essentially shuffleboard on a grass lawn.

And apparently, this oddity merited being the subject of a feature film from National Lampoon, the former cultural touchstone that has now become the bottom feeder of American lowbrow humor.

Domestic Disturbance Review

Bad
You would think it'd be a sure bet that a drama with the title Domestic Disturbance would at least be better than its laughable name. But frankly, Domestic Disturbance may as well be called Movie Theater Disturbance. Or, more specifically, Cookie Cutter Clichéd Thriller. This retread of barely suspenseful nail-biters from ten years past (think Pacific Heights and the like) is one lackluster sleepwalk of a movie.

An obvious John Travolta vehicle, it features the healthy-looking, tanned, hit-or-miss star as Frank Morrison, a loving but divorced father who is earthy enough to build wooden boats for a living, and honest enough to not charge a profitable fee. He's nice. He loves his young son Danny (a natural Matthew O'Leary), and is dealing with his ex-wife's (Meet the Parents' Teri Polo) marriage to rich investor Rick Barnes (a stale Vince Vaughn, playing a whole other kind of psycho).

Wedding Crashers Review

Good
About 20 minutes before the credits roll in "WeddingCrashers," something goes very wrong. It feels as if a drunken scriptdoctor stumbled into the party, demanded to know where all the clicheshad gone and insisted they be put right back where they belong.

Soon there are interrupted weddings, "I tried to tellyou but couldn't" apologies and an avalanche of other plot machinationsthat come close to ruining what is otherwise the bawdiest, most consistentlyhilarious comedy so far this year.

Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson have an ad-lib-happy, almostHope-and-Crosby-like chemistry as a pair of buddies -- ironically talenteddivorce mediators by profession -- who spend their free time attendingweddings of people they don't know to score with girls they'll never seeagain. Almost the entire first reel of the movie is something akin to afilmmaking miracle -- one long, perfectly-tuned montage sequence of variousethnic weddings that just keeps getting funnier and funnier as it mixestoasts, dances, flirtations, made-up war stories, fake tears, and prettygirls caught up in the romance of the day and jumping our heroes' bones.

Story proper kicks in when the boys dare to crash "theKentucky Derby of weddings" -- the Secretary of State's eldest daughteris getting hitched -- and Wilson lays eyes on the middle daughter (talented,bright-eyed Everygirl knockout Rachel McAdams) as she's quietly snickeringthrough her sister's corny self-written vows.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story Review

Terrible

Can somebody please stop Ben Stiller?

Since becoming a box-office draw with "There's Something About Mary," the guy has been a horrendous ham, devouring scenery with an eye-bugging, eyebrow-stitching schtick so stale and predictable that his last dozen movies have all included the same gag: slow-motion scenes of Stiller madly mugging while dancing, or running, or playing the titular game of schoolyard pain and humiliation in "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story."

The only variation in his on-screen persona is that sometimes he's an irritatingly neurotic, hapless chump ("Along Came Polly," "Envy," "Meet the Parents") and other times he's an irritatingly arrogant, mock-sexy-pouting, self-obsessed moron ("Starsky & Hutch," "Zoolander").
