The Ghost star has teamed up with bosses at Sock Dreams to launch the simply titled Whoopi's Socks, which features various designs inspired by Goldberg's life and interests.

The 59 year old, who is known for wearing interesting sock and shoe combinations on her U.S. talk show The View, explains, "I wear socks with everything because I cannot bear to have my feet out, and so someone said to me, 'Well, why don't you work with a sock designer?' so that's what I did. And so my socks, they're based on... (my life) in a fun way."

One design features images inspired by the Japanese fairytale The Boy Who Drew Cats, while another is adorned with an old map, a nod to her love of cartography.

Goldberg reveals entering the sock industry made the most sense to her as opposed to launching her own womenswear range, because she doesn't consider herself much of a fashionista.

She adds, "I wanted something that was representative (of me) because quite honestly, I wear white shirts or black shirts and black pants (every day), that's my life. I always said I want to do something like this and I thought socks are affordable and folks could wear (them)."
