Review of Knocking Single by Will And The People

Review of Will And The People's single 'Knocking' released through RCA on 4th May 09.

Will And The People Knocking Single

This is the debut single from the promising band, Will And The People who hail from Brighton's live scene and are also due to release their first album later this year.

It's one of those songs that you only have to hear once, then its there, stuck in your head for the rest of the day! Their unusual blend of pop/rock, reggae and ska is up-beat yet melodic, and totally infectious.

Knocking has an almost bluesy swing to it and is dominated by Will Rendle's distinctive melodic vocals. He has a great range and a definite retro-ska style. With the keyboards, brass sounds and great hook, the overall package has a hint of The Specials about it but more raw and up-to-date.

They have just finished touring with the Script, and I can imagine this music would easily hold the larger audiences. Currently on their first headline tour of the UK, Will And The People would definitely be ones to catch live.

Rating: 7/10
