Will Ferrell, in his famous comedic character Ron Burgundy, was scheduled to host a segment of 'SportsCenter' this Thursday (Dec 5th).

Champ Kind, played by David Koechner, was also meant to join the show which is part of the actors' promotional tour of the upcoming 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues'.

However, ESPN has been forced to cancel their appearance due to Jameis Winston's sexual assault investigation results coming on Thursday as well.

The network's official twitter account announced the cancellation, the post read, "Ron Burgundy's SportsCenter appearance Thursday has been canceled in light of breaking news out of Florida State regarding Jameis Winston."

ESPN's director of communications David Scott, shortly after the announcement, posted on his own Twitter account;

"Ron Burgundy's scheduled Thurs. appearance on @SportsCenter has been cancelled in light of the potential implications of any news from the State Attorney's press conference in Fla."

Adding, "As of this time, there is no reschedule date for Ron Burgundy on @SportsCenter."

ESPN reported, the press conference is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 2pm. They will announce the decision whether or not to charge Florida State quarterback, Winston, on a sexual assault claim which dates back to December 2012.

The segment will have been added to the long list of television appearances Ron Burgundy is doing as of late, the hilarious character has attended the Canadian Curling Olympics trials, starred in numerous commercials for Dodge Durango and read the news at North Dakota's FX News, all in the name of promoting.

'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' hits theatres on December 18th 2013.
