Will.i.am has advised Charli XCX to sing ''random words'' in the versus of her songs.

The 'Boom Clap' hitmaker has teamed up with the 41-year-old musician - who is known for being in the band Black Eyed Peas - on her new album, and the 24-year-old singer has admitted she has been told to take will.i.am's advice and utter sheer nonsense because no one will notice.

Speaking to Q Magazine about her partnership with the 'Scream and Shout' hitmaker, she said: ''I love him.

''We were writing and he was like 'the verse - just say random words. Nobody listens to the verse'.

''I thought, 'Hm, interesting strategy.'''

However, Charli - whose full name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison - has hinted she didn't think will.i.am was serious with his comment, and it wasn't until she back tracked and listened to his music carefully she realised he was being honest.

She explained: ''Then I listened again to his songs and I was like, 'F**k, he actually does this! He really believes in this strategy.''

Meanwhile, the brunette beauty has admitted she made some ''rash decisions'' with her studio album 'Sucker'.

She explained: ''I made some rash decisions with 'Sucker', like the song 'Break The Rules'. That was so bad. I hate it. I wrote it at a writing camp for other artists.''
