The latest X-Men movie has stormed to the top of the U.K. box office just days after exceeding the $110 million (£69 million) mark across the Atlantic.

X-Men: Days of Future Past, starring Hugh Jackman as clawed mutant Wolverine, took $14.5 million (£9.1 million) in its opening weekend (23-25May14), defeating monster movie Godzilla, which took a measly $4.3 million (£2.7 million) in comparison.

The X-Men sequel also conquered America, smashing the $110 million mark at the U.S. box office over the same weekend.

Zac Efron's comedy Neighbors fell to third on the U.K. chart with takings of $1.9 million (£1.2 million) and the top five was rounded out by animation Postman Pat, which raked in $1.2 million (£775,000), in fourth place and Adam Sandler's new comedy Blended coming in fifth with $1.1 million (£688,000).
