Yeah Yeah Yeahs' new album is ''influenced by roots reggae.''

The 'Heads Will Roll' group will make their return in April with fourth album 'Mosquito', which will include some surprising influences.

Singer Karen O told NME magazine: ''It's definitely different from the last album. So I guess you could say that hasn't changed about us.

''It's all over the place. The sound of the record is, I guess, a bit more lo-fi sounding and slightly more influenced by roots reggae. There's a lot of delay on stuff and there's a more raw sound to it than there was last time.''

One track on the record was produced by former LCD Soundsystem musician James Murphy while the rest were helmed by Dave Sitek and Nick Launay, who have previously collaborated with the group.

Karen added the group - which also includes guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase - have been using more bass on 'Mosquito' than previous albums.

She added: ''There's probably more bass on this record than all the other records combined. But there's also plenty of guitar. It's a bit more tripped out than our other records.''

The band unveiled some of their new songs during a show in California last week, including one called 'Phenomena'.

'Mosquito' will be released on April 15.
