The musician, currently touring with the Zac Brown Band, teamed up with bosses at Southwest Airlines to provide the in-flight entertainment on the air journey from Dallas to Tennessee.

Drake, who released his debut album last year (16), said he particularly enjoyed seeing fans' reactions to his surprise gig.

"Flying is pretty nerve-wracking," he told "It was really cool to get back there to see little kids standing up on the tray tables and making up songs about them and just brighten up everybody's day. If I can brighten up somebody's day for a little while, it's worth it."

Accompanied by his guitarist and a washboard player, Drake performed his 2016 country hit Story and his latest single, Makin' Me Look Good Again.

Earlier this month (Feb17), Drake was named as the 2017 Grammy Awards' Artist of Tomorrow, an honour for which a performer has to be nominated by a previous Grammy Award winner.

The musician, who was nominated by members of the Zac Brown Band, thanked them for giving him the chance to tour with them.

"I am beyond honored to say that I am the Grammy Artist of Tomorrow," he told "A very big thank you to Zac Brown Band and the opportunities they have afforded us both on and off the road. This is a dream."
