Zack Snyder (born 1.3.1966)
Zack Snyder is an American film producer and screenwriter
Zack Snyder: Childhood
Zack Snyder was raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, though he was originally born in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
After graduating from high school, Snyder attended Heatherley School of Fine Art in England and then later studied at the Art Centre College of Design in California. In California, Snyder counted the artists Tarsem Singh (the music video director) and Michael Bay (the director of Pearl Harbor) amongst his fellow students.
Zack Snyder: Film Career
Zack Snyder directed a number of commercials for large multinational corporations, such as Nissan, Audi, BMW, Nike and Reebok. An advert that he directed for Jeep won him a Gold Lion Award.
His debut feature film came in 2004 with the remake of George Romero's Dawn of the Dead. The film starred Ving Rhames and Sarah Polley and was highly regarded among horror movie fans and three years later, Snyder released 300, which was based on Frank Miller's graphic novel series of the same name. The film starred Gerard Butler and Rodrigo Santoro.
In 2009, Snyder's highly anticipated adaptation of Watchmen, also originally by Frank Miller, was released. On the first day of its release, the film grossed over $25 million. Among the stars of the film are Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode and Sally Jupiter. The film has been the subject of some controversy, as Miller himself refused to have any involvement in the making of the film, whereas he was the executive producer on 300. Also, Warner Brothers have attempted to market Snyder as a legendary visionary producer. It has been reported that Snyder himself finds this uncomfortable, given his relative inexperience in film-making.
After completing Watchmen, Snyder began working on a new project entitled Guardians of Ga'Hoole, which will star Amanda Seyfried and was co-written by Steve Shibuya. He has also started work on W.I.T.C.H The Movie, another graphic novel adaptation, due for release in 2010 and Sucker Punch, due for release in 2011.
Zack Snyder: Personal Life
Zack Snyder lives in Pasadena, California, where he attended art college, with his wife and six children.
The film's not pulled in as much cash as was expected.
As one of the most formidable teams in the history of comic books, the Justice League are a force to be reckoned with. Surprising it was then to see that the release of the first ever live-action big screen version of that group, 'Justice League' didn't do as well in its opening weekend box office numbers as was expected.
Gal Gadot reprised her role as Diana Prince in 'Justice League'
Bringing Batman (Ben Affleck) together with the likes of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Superman (Henry Cavill) meant that there were some of DC's most powerful superheroes tackling a huge threat to their universe, but the narrative just wasn't enough to bring in big numbers and put bums in movie theatre seats.
The news will come as a blow to those campaigning for Snyder's cut to be released.
Though it's not made the best impression on the critics and didn't make one of the best opener's in the US box office upon its release, 'Justice League' is still looking like it could be a success thanks to international takings. Right now however, it would appear Warner Bros. are simply hoping to break even with the latest offering from the DC Extended Universe.
Zack Snyder had to exit his role on 'Justice League' earlier this year
The film was this year completed by Joss Whedon, with reshoots and rewriting taking place once original director Zack Snyder stepped down from his position following a family tragedy. Principal photography had already been completed on the movie, but it wasn't going to remain a sole Snyder project once Whedon stepped in, despite the latter not officially getting a director's credit on the flick.

The planet is in turmoil. Superman is apparently dead and crime rates have surged around the world as a result. But there's more than just petty theft and random assaults out there; mankind are under threat from an alien general named Steppenwolf who, with his terrible army of Parademons, are causing devastation as they search far and wide for three mysterious Mother Boxes hidden on Earth. The people need help, and so Bruce Wayne brings back Gotham's hero - Batman - and enlists the assistance of Wonder Woman to form a new legion of heroes. They, along with Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash, must protect the world from total destruction at the hands of Steppenwolf and, ultimately, his boss Darkseid. They're all very different heroes, with very different ideas about fighting villains, but there's one thing they all have in common - a desire for justice.

Boldly optimistic, this action-packed adventure breathes fresh life into the DC universe with a welcome balance of comedy, flirtation and a sense of righteous justice. And at the centre, Gal Gadot is a hugely engaging hero with a refreshing moral clarity to her actions. So even if the movie dissolves into the usual murky digital mayhem in its final act, there's a bright light at the centre that holds us in its grip.
While the Great War rages in Europe, life carries on as usual on the secret island home of the Amazons, where Diana (Gadot) has been raised by her mother Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) and trained by her aunt General Antiope (Robin Wright). When American spy Steve (Chris Pine) crash-lands there, Diana quickly agrees to return with him to war-torn Europe, track down God of War Aries and put an end to the fighting for good. Awed by her fighting prowess and skimpy outfit, Steve agrees to take her. They return to London to confront a smug politician (David Thewlis) and assemble a team so they can return to the front on a mission to take down the nefarious German General Ludendorff (Danny Huston) and his chemical weapons scientist Maru (Elena Anaya). But Diana is still looking for Aries.
Director Patty Jenkins tells this story like an old-fashioned war epic, following a rag-tag group of good guys as they go through a series of battles on their way to the big confrontation. Along the way, there's plenty of comedy banter, dark emotion and even some lusty romance. Putting a woman at the centre of the action gives the movie a strongly resonant slant, especially because she's surrounded by men who always underestimate her.

Family tragedy takes the Snyders off the DC movie project.

Deborah and Zack Snyder at 'Suicide Squad' premiere
The Snyder family have done well to keep the situation away from the press, but since March 2017 they have been mourning the death of their 20-year-old daughter Autumn Snyder who committed suicide. Very few details of the tragedy have been revealed outside of a close circle of friends and family.

Superman is missing from the 'Justice League' trailer.
The first major trailer for 'Justice League' has finally dropped and it tells us a lot about what to expect in the forthcoming DC movie. Following directly on from 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', we meet the majority of the team and the dangers they're set to face.
[L-R] The Flash, Superman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Batman and Aquaman make up the Justice League
We see Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) having taken a long journey somewhere, most likely to track down Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) in an isolated fishing village. Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) is the first to unite with Bruce as he gathers the Justice League, both spurred by the brave sacrifice of their friend Clark Kent (Henry Cavill). Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) is a little shocked to be recruited, especially while he's got his own problems to deal with such as his father Henry Allen (Billy Crudup) being in prison.

Zack Snyder and HBO are in talks to develop a ‘Watchmen’ series.
Zack Snyder is reportedly in talks with HBO to develop a Watchmen television series. The director has previously turned his hand to adapting the comic book series, written and drawn by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, in the 2009 film of the same name. Talks have reportedly taken place between Snyder and HBO about the possibility of adapting the series but nothing has been confirmed as yet.

Clark Kent is a reporter for the Daily Planet in his everyday life, but a much hated alien powerhouse beneath the earthly guise. As Superman he has the power to destroy the world and, even though he would never dream of it, the world wants him gone. Even his efforts to become the ultimate hero go unappreciated, in particular by his Gotham rival Bruce Wayne; a billionaire vigilante known as Batman by night. He believes Superman is to blame for all the horror the Earth has been faced with, and vows to take him despite his limited abilities. It isn't long before the two are forced to unite, however, in order to protect the citizens of Earth from a real threat that could prove to thrust the planet into oblivion.
After debuting at Comic Con over the weekend the extra-long Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailer is finally online.
A new full length trailer for the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice has just hit online, offering fans their best look yet at the upcoming clash between the two comic book titans. Debuting at Comic Con this weekend the trailer was well received by fans who found plenty to talk about including Jesse Eisenberg's menacing Lex Luthor.
The nearly four minute trailer showcases Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman, while also heavily featuring Eisenberg as the villainous Luther. It also offers our first real look at Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Jeremy Irons as butler Alfred Pennyworth, while also including Holly Hunter, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
The Hollywood hunk will reportedly direct, co-write and star in a standalone Batman film after appearing in Zack Snyder's 'Dawn of Justice'.
Comic-book fans: prepare to cheer, boo - or tell us you already knew - Ben Affleck is expected to be officially named as the director of a standalone Batman movie in which he'll also star as the caped crusader.
Is Ben Affleck going behind the camera for a forthcoming Batman film?
Deadline reports that Affleck is teaming up with DC Comics' chief creative officer Geoff Johns to write the movie, and the script could even be ready by the end of this summer. With Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice reaching cinemas in March next year, and the director's Justice League Part One pencilled in for November 2017, it's not yet clear when this new Affleck-helmed Batman title will slot in.
