But times have changed, and people have died since his arrival. The world has had enough of the "false God" Superman (Henry Cavill), but there is already another hero in the world. In Gotham City, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) has spent years and billions of dollars making himself into the greatest detective and the finest crime fighter. Zack Snyder Henry Cavill Ben Affleck Gal Gadot Ray Fisher Amy Adams Jesse Eisenberg Jeremy Irons Ezra Miller

The first trailer for the DC crossover movie 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' has finally arrived - and it's difficult to tell who's most formidable, despite the fact that one superhero has earned his power, and the other was gifted at birth.

Batman v Superman logo'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is coming next year

Zack Snyder is returning with the sequel to 2013's Superman adventure 'Man Of Steel', and it's our first taste of The Justice League as they hit theaters for the first time. While the plot remains unknown, we can gather that the world has become disillusioned with Clark Kent (Henry Cavill); mistrusting of him given humanity's history with power and corruption, and fearful that their faiths are being questioned.

Leaked "Batman Vs. Superman" Trailer Generates Extra Publicity

Ben Affleck Henry Cavill Zack Snyder

As far as publicity goes, the leaked Batman vs. Superman trailer may have worked in the movie’s favour. Sure, the early release meant it sort of clashed with the first look at Star Wars: Episode VII, but then this probably means that the superhero showdown will get an extra day of hype, once the actual, legit trailer drops/is released by the studio for real.

The shaky, second-hand recording of the trailer was only on YouTube for minutes, before being taken down, but it was enough to generate pages and pages of coverage, because, you know, content is kind of like gold for entertainment writers.

The trailer is our first real look at Ben Affleck as Batman - but not quite yet.

It's all about DC at the moment with Henry Cavill's Superman having become a huge hit in 2013's 'Man Of Steel' and 'Fast And Furious' star Gal Gadot being announced as Wonder Woman in Michelle MacLaren's upcoming movie. Superman: Dawn of Justice', and 'Game Of Thrones' star Jason Momoa is just the latest announcement for the cast - as fish-friendly King of Atlantis, Aquaman.

Scoot McNairy to play The Flash?

The casting announcements for Zack Snyder's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' have been both thoroughly exciting and extremely surprising. Of course, we knew Henry Cavill would return as the Man of Steel, we spent hours pondering who could play Wonder Woman before Gal Gadot was chosen and we were pleased on the announcement of Ben Affleck taking over Christian Bale as the Dark Knight. Rumours are still circulating that Jason Momoa might be joining the team as Aquaman, but the thing we're most excited for at the moment are recent whispers of Scoot McNairy taking on The Flash.

Jason Momoa For Aquaman Role: Why The 'Game Of Thrones' Actor Is A Perfect Choice

Jason Momoa Zack Snyder

Jason Momoa is set to play Aquaman in Zack Snyder's upcoming Justice League movie, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, if reports are to be believed. It was first claimed that the Game of Thrones actor would be raising Aquaman's iconic trident back in December last year but rumours are now hotter than ever as Snyder's 2016 blockbuster draws nearer and HitFix claims to have confirmed the news.

The imposing Hawaiian star was an ideal selection to play chieftain of the Dothraki people, Khal Drogo, in HBO's hit fantasy series but his impressive height and muscular physicality doesn't fit so well with DC Comics' original blonde, cheerful and sprightly underwater superhero in his green leggings and yellow marigold-esque gloves.

The Big Bang Theory has done a good job of pushing the notion that Aquaman, who first appeared in the graphic novels in 1941, is the Justice League's equivalent of Star Wars' Jar Jar Binks. In other words, a laughing stock who provides comic relief and props up the storyline with the other, more serious characters get down to the real action.

It's Official! Jason Momoa Will Be Warner Bros.' Aquaman In "Batman Vs. Superman"

It has been confirmed: DC now has its Aquaman and it’s none other than Jason Momoa. The news that Momoa will play the DC Comics superhero Aquaman in both the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, and its sequel Justice League was confirmed by Variety, after months of heavy speculation.

Jason Momoa
Momoa cleverly brushed off the Aquaman rumors, right until his contract was confirmed.

Back in December, it was reported that Momoa was in talks to play Aquaman, in addition to the already announced main cast, which includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor (that announcement raised a fair few eyebrows) and Jeremy Irons as Alfred.

Ben Affleck's Batsuit: Is It A Hit Or A Miss For Snyder's Caped Crusader?

Ben Affleck Zack Snyder

Finally we’ve able to feast our eyes on Ben Affleck’s Batsuit and well, was it worth the wait? In the black and white photo tweeted by director Zack Snyder a bulky Ben can, for the first time, be seen as the caped crusader, though he doesn’t look to happy about it. Sad Batman memes aside, Affleck probably will be cracking a smile soon as he might just have exceeded our expectations with his new look.

Introducing Ray Fisher As Warner Bros. "Batman Vs. Superman" Cyborg

Ray Fisher Zack Snyder Henry Cavill Ben Affleck Gal Gadot Amy Adams

The Batman vs. Superman movie casting may have had comic book fans on the brink of desperation up until now, but it looks like Zack Snyder and Co. may have gotten one thing right. Meet your new Cyborg – Ray Fisher. Now, Fisher is primarily a stage actor, although that has been known to work for past superhero movies and he has been cast as Victor Stone. That’s all we know at this point, according to Variety. Early reports claimed that Fisher was being considered for a part in Snyder's Star Wars Episode VII, but it looks like he was transferred to another big-budget Snyder production.

Fisher's background is mostly theatrical.

The character has a minor role in Batman vs. Superman, but this casting and Fisher’s appearance are intended to pave the way for future appearances by the superhero within the Justice League franchise that Warner Bros. is setting up for. A little background on Cyborg: the character made his first appearance in 1980's "DC Comics Presents" #26. In the "New 52" continuity, he's a high school athlete who, after getting caught in a S.T.A.R. Labs explosion, is given powerful bionic abilities that lead to him becoming a founding member of the Justice League.

'Mr. Peabody And Sherman' Vanquishes '300: Rise Of An Empire' To Claim Box Office

Ty Burrell Zack Snyder Aaron Paul

Mr. Peabody & Sherman has defied expectations by claiming the box office number one spot in its second weekend of release. Dreamworks' animated children's comedy moved up from last weekend's second place to become the most-watched film of the week, with domestic box office takings of $21.2 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

The lively movie about a genius dog and his human son was held off last week's number one action fantasy movie, 300: Rise of an Empire. Zack Snyder's R-rated sequel was forced to settle for second best this week, taking $19.2 million. It seems that the initial excitement surrounding the follow-up to the highly-quotable 2006 film dissipated when critics began to file crushing reviews.

300: Rise Of An Empire Review

OK

Fans of the 2007 Spartan war romp 300 probably won't care that this spin-off is even more chaotic and much murkier to look at. It still features armies of scantily clad muscle men grunting idiotic declamatory dialogue as they charge into cartoon-style battles against all odds. No, this isn't particularly subtle filmmaking: it's loud and brutal. And good for an unintentional laugh.

At the same time as Spartan King Leonidas (a briefly glimpsed Gerard Butler) is leading his 300 men to battle against Xerses (Santoro), Greek General Themistocles (Stapleton) approaches Leonidas' wife Gorgo (Headey) for help facing Xerses vengeful military commander Artemisia (Green) on another front at sea. Themistocles' main officers are Aesyklos (Matheson) and Scyllias (Mulvey), whose son Calisto (O'Connell) secretly joins the army as they set sail for an epic ship-based battle against Artemisia's fearsome forces. And there are two more watery conflicts to come, each more outrageous than the one before, as Artemisia taunts Themistocles seductively while dispensing fiery death and destruction at every turn.

The addition of two strong women adds a bit of interest here, but the focus is still on the bare-chested men, even if only three or for of them actually emerge into proper characters. Headey's chief contribution is a rambling voiceover narration explaining everything for us, while Green's wry smirk and momentous glower let her steal every scene. By contrast, the men seem rather feeble. Stapleton is manly and commanding, but not hugely charismatic. Rising-star O'Connell barely gets two decent scenes. Santoro is hilariously grouchy eye candy. And everyone else is clearly expendable.

Ben Affleck's Batman Debut Held Back Until May 2016

Ben Affleck Henry Cavill Gal Gadot Jason Momoa Zack Snyder

It seems as though we'll have to wait a bit longer to see Ben Affleck in tight spandex pants, sharing screen time with Henry Cavill's equally tight spandex pants. DC were looking to launch their own multi-hero film franchise with the release of the Man of Steel sequel, working under the title of 'Superman vs. Batman,' in July 2015, however a recent announcement from the studio has said we'll have to wait a little longer.

Man of Steel
The first Man of Steel was a hit and the sequel promises to be even bigger

Warner Brothers revealed on Friday (17 Jan.) - via The Hollywood Reporter - that it planned on holding back on the Man of Steel sequel until 6 May, 2016, with the studio's prequel of Peter Pan - titled Pan - replacing the initially planned 17 July, 2015, release date. The studio did not give any reason as to why the films were trading release dates, however has been suggested that Warner Bros. wanted a May release for the superhero film owing to the month's tendency to yield higher box office returns in recent years.

Jason Momoa In Talks For 'Superman Vs Batman' - Are We Looking At A Justice League Movie?

Jason Momoa Superman Batman Zack Snyder Ben Affleck Henry Cavill

More news from the upcoming 'Superman Vs Batman' movie as Jason Momoa is apparently a definite maybe to join the cast.

The 'Conan the Barbarian' star could be set to star as Martian Manhunter in the upcoming film, which currently has no official title but will serve as a sequel to this year's 'Man Of Steel'. The character is one of the superhero members of the DC comic book team, the Justice League of America so if this suggestion is true, it could throw into question an 'Avengers' style movie given that Wonder Woman will also make an appearance in the movie.

Kryptonian supervillain Doomsday from the Batman franchise is another possibility for Momoa; a character known to be the only supervillain to have ever managed to kill Superman - a storyline that appeared in the 1992 comic 'The Death of Superman'.
