For over a decade Zane Lowe has been the DJ for BBC 1's flagship evening slot, between 7 and 9 p.m. from Monday to Thursdays every week, but now the New Zealand-born DJ is heading to the U.S. to join Apple.

Zane, who joined the British network in 2003, will air his last show on March 5th and Annie Mac has already been announced as his replacement. She will helm the evening slot for the first time on March 9th.

"I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship," he said in a statement, BBC reports. "The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country's best music fans."

Zane added he "loved every minute" of his time at the BBC.

Although the 41-year-old music expert's new job at Apple is still unknown, and Apple spokesperson said in a statement to Billboard, "Zane is one of the foremost music tastemakers in the world and a legendary music curator. We're excited to have him join the music team."

Through his career, Lowe has conducted interviews of some of the biggest stars in music including Eminem, Chris Martin, Rick Rubin, Jay-Z and the now infamous segment with Kanye West, which was later mocked on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

Luke Mitzman, Lowe's manager, also told Billboard, "We will continue to work with Zane and look forward to developing his profile around the world."

As well as being named Music Broadcaster of the Year by the Radio Academy Awards in 2010, 2011 and 2014, Zane was also named Best Radio Show at the NME Awards on four different occasions.
