Teen pop star Aaron Carter has revealed the $300,000 (GBP158,000) Bentley Michael Jackson offered him as a birthday gift was one of five the pop superstar intended on auctioning off for charity.

Carter prompted many to scratch their heads when he revealed his pal had bought him the exclusive blue car as a 16th birthday present, but now he reveals it was just an offer.

The I WANT CANDY singer - now 18 - reveals, "He was going to (give me the car) before all this stuff (child molestation accusations) happened. He was going to give me it for my birthday.

"He had five Bentleys... that a whole bunch of artists signed. We did a song called WHAT MORE CAN I GIVE for a charity that he did and a whole bunch of people were signing inside the car, on the roof.

"I went to his house and I said I remember this car."

The generous gift caused a rift between Carter and his then-manager mother because she feared the car was too elaborate a gift to give a teenager - so she spoke with Jackson.

In a TV interview last year (04), Jane Carter said, "He (Jackson) said, 'I never gave him a Bentley. Why would Aaron go on television and say I gave him a Bentley?'"
