Breaking Bad's explosive fifth and final season dominated the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, picking up most of the major drama prizes ahead of 'Game of Thrones' and 'True Detective'. AMC's meth-drama took five Emmys in total, with Aaron Paul taking home best supporting actor for the third time.

As Aaron Paul prepares to head to the Emmys - no doubt to collect several awards for AMC's meth-drama Breaking Bad - Sony Pictures TV have entered into an agreement with the actor to develop and produce new projects.

Paul, who played Jesse Pinkman so wonderfully in Breaking Bad, has signed a first-look deal with the studio to shepherd projects through his newly launched production company, Lucid Road Productions. It was probably the obvious next step for the actor, who recently got into producing with Netflix's animated series BoJack Horseman.

Having just starred together in the muscle-car thriller Need for Speed, Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots team up again this week for A Long Way Down, adapted from the Nick Hornby novel. And while both films have been slated by the critics, the actors clearly enjoyed working on them.

AMC have joined the party, too, giving us the most talked about show in Breaking Bad, the most imitated show in Mad Men and the most watched show in The Walking Dead. This really is a purple patch for television.

The box office this weekend is finally seeing some movement. The Aaron Paul flick made good profits on its Friday release, but Mr. Peabody and Sherman is looking like the weekend chart topper. On Friday, Need for Speed made a promising start with $6.6 in early profits. Its weekend projections, however are less optimistic. While Dreamworks and its partner Disney were hoping for around $25 million in weekend profits, the film is headed straight for the $18 to $19 million range, THR reports.

The studio is still hoping for the flick, which cost $66million to make, to show some franchise potential, mostly from its overseas earnings. Need for Speed is expected to see a weekend rush in international markets, including China. In North America, it earned a B+ CinemaScore. However, reviewers were no less than brutal. The Fast & Furious-style action flick currently holds a 24% “rotten” rating on the review aggregator.

A few bit parts in movies came, he starred alongside James Franco in forgotten teen movie, ‘Whatever it Takes’ in 2000, appeared as the son of Jeff Bridges in ‘K-Pax’ and also lent his voice to the animated underwater tale ‘Help Im a Fish’. But if you’re looking for Paul’s most memorable early career moment, then you might want to look up the January 3rd 2000 episode of TV game show ‘The Price is Right’. Two new films held their premieres in Hollywood this week. Muppets Most Wanted's world premiere was attended by stars Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Kermit and Miss Piggy. Aaron Paul is giving the TV-to-film transition his best goal and, with Breaking Bad and Need for Speed on his reel, he has an actual shot. In the wake of Need for Speed, his most recent release (7.4/10 on IMDB, 22% on Rotten Tomatoes), as well as Breaking Bad, Paul is enjoying the kind of freedom in his career that only a major award could grant.

After making meth for five seasons, Paul now has a need for speed.

"When I came out here 17 years ago, I had $5,000 to my name and this crazy dream of being in movies," says out-of-towner Paul, 34, for USA Today "Suddenly, I actually get to be picky with scripts. The doors have kind of been blown open."

On first glance, Dreamworks’ upcoming big-screen adaptation of the Need for Speed video game seems like quite a big leap of faith. Movies, based on video games have tended to be hit-and-miss in the past, with the “miss category” boasting far more entries and Need for Speed in particular doesn’t have the kind of story that would typically pull the film out of the pit of mediocrity. The best thing that Need for Speed has going for it, is its cast. At the beginning, even that was uncertain, with Aaron Paul and Ramon Rodriguez hesitant to take on the project at all.

Aaron Paul was initially reluctant to take on the project at all.

"I didn't even want to read the script," Paul told The Hollywood Reporter ahead of Tuesday night's Cinema Society-hosted screening of the film. "I saw the script and I was like, 'Oh, no, another video-game movie'…So, it took everything in me to turn the first page. And once I turned the first page, I kept turning. I was so surprised that it had a great human story behind it and great characters that I found myself instantly invested in."

Breaking Bad is over. This is a sad fact that many of us have finally been able to get over since the near-perfect finale was aired earlier this month. But as we already know, show creator Vince Gilligan is already working on a spin-off series centred on everyone's favourite crooked lawyer Saul Goodman. In a recent interview, Gilligan had even more good news to share; that the show may feature Breaking Bad's main stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Gilligan revealed that the show is still in it's infancy, with the plot for the show still being determined. But the crew behind the spin-off series are making leaps towards bringing the show into fruition and Gilligan admitted that the writers are beginning to put together a show that will be much lighter than Breaking Bad, but will still contain a number of dramatic elements, as the team behind the spin-off attempt to find the safe medium between comedy and drama for the show.

"We're both one-hour drama guys," Gilligan said of himself and series co-creator Peter Gould, who created Bob Odenkirk's character during the second season of BB. "So we figured, 'Why not shoot Saul in the same way?' Let's shoot it in Albuquerque, let's get as much of the crew back together as possible, and let's do it the way we did it before so that it will be of a piece with that pre-existing fictional universe that we had so much fun creating."

Aaron Paul joked that he is desperate for employment, a day after the finale of Breaking Bad aired. The 34-year-old actor was walking along Sunset Strip in Los Angeles when he was caught by one of TMZ's reporters. When asked by the photographer if he was relieved that the show was over, in order to remove the pressure of being constantly asked by fans for insider details, Paul said he wasn't relieved as he now has to hunt for a job.

Last night saw the season premiere of SNL and with Tina Fey hosting, Arcade Fire as the musical guest, six new castmembers and even a cameo from Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, it couldn’t have been any better. Fey used her opening monologue to “initiate” the six new actors, in a bit, which left them stripped down to some golden lame underwear, much like what a college frat initiation, we’d imagine. Besides hosting, SNL veteran Fey also featured in several sketches, including spot-on send up of HBO's "Girls" where she played a new addition to the cast, an Albanian immigrant named Blerta, an obligatory bit of air travel humor with a sketch about boarding airplanes and a dark and sarcastic used-car commercial from the 1920s.

Fresh off her delightful Emmy appearance, Fey returned to her old home at SNL.

Of course, Arcade Fire weren’t left out of the fun either. A brilliant bit, in which Fey attempted to tell the difference between AF and the new castmembers killed two birds with one stone – continuing the roast of the newbies and also making good use of the musical guests’ hidden acting talents. Of course, they also did that music thing they were there to do and performed three whole songs off their upcoming album Reflektor, due to be released next month.

Breaking Bad comes to an end after five gloriously gripping seasons this Sunday (29 Sept.), when fans of the show will finally say goodbye to Walter White, Jesse Pinkman and the crystal blue colouring of Albuquerque's criminal underworld. But although the series will soon come to an end, it's legacy will be sticking around for much, much longer, especially in the city of Albuquerque itself, where an influx of tourism prompted by the show has turned some banal locations into the unlikeliest of tourist hotspots.

The Albuquerque Biological Park, Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, the Museum of Natural History and Science and the city's Old Town were once the notable tourist destinations for the New Mexico city, but now people are flocking to the Octopus car wash and Twisters, a burrito joint within the city. As initially reported by the BBC, these are locations that would otherwise slip into a banal backdrop of everyday life in Albuquerque, but today they are now celebrating their newfound heritage as the locations where Walter White (Bryan Cranston) slowly but surely went from sympathetic high school chemistry teacher, to murderous crystal meth kingpin.

There was a time when we could root for both Jesse Pinkman and Walter White in tandem; their loyalty to eachother despite threats of death against themselves and Walt’s family was touching. A relationship between generations, built within the confines of crime but standing strong; it was certainly one of the more engaging on-screen partnerships in recent years.

But time and Walt’s actions – his pride – have driven the one-time partners apart. Breaking Bad, season five, episode 11: Confessions, saw Pinkman wake up. And we’re glad, too; Jesse is too important to the show to bow out quietly, even if his enthusiasm for a new life in Alaska made some of us hope he’d end up there, buy a modest house on a nice street – just big enough for a huge TV and a sofa bed – and perhaps get a dog; walk it early in the morning, breathing in that clear Alaska air.

Breaking Bad began its final run on AMC this week, with fans already speculating as to the future of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. They've lived with these cult hero characters for five seasons and, just like any other television series worth its salt, the ending is a big, big deal.

Remember the ending to The Sopranos? Fans are still trying to figure out what happened there - or what about the rather over-the-top finale of Lost?

Anyway, Aaron Paul - who plays Jesse on Breaking Bad - was hanging out with pals at The Sayers Club in Los Angeles last night when he was asked by TMZ.com if there was a chance the upcoming finale was simply a teaser for a real ending on the big-screen. Could it work?

A pair of thighty whities, a burnt teddy bear, a bag of blue crystals and a high school chemistry set – fans of Breaking Bad will recognize all these as benchmarks along the way of Walter White’s descent into crime, but they have one more thing in common – all these items will be featured in a Breaking Bad themed exhibition at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image.

No word on whether Jesse and Walt's white RV will be featured.

The L.A. Times reports that the exhibition, entitled "From Mr. Chips to Scarface: Walter White's Transformation in 'Breaking Bad,'" will be on show until October 27th, approximately one month after the show’s final episode airs on AMC. So, a select few avid Breaking Bad fans will be able to get their fix (no pun intended) even after the show ends.

According to the Television Critics Association, Breaking Bad is the program of the year. But they’re not the only ones who think that; Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) have stunned critics and fans alike in the AMC show, which enters its final eight episodes on August 11th.

The award is selected by the 220 members of the critics' organization, and often recognizes the shows ignored by The Emmys. Breaking Bad has been a revelation since it debuted back in January 2008 on AMC.

It follows a chemistry teacher diagnosed with cancer (White) who teams up with an unruly ex-student (Pinkman) to manufacture and sell crystal meth with the specific view to leaving his family a large sum of money after his death.

Game of Thrones was awarded 'Best Drama' and 'Best Comedy' was a tie between The Big Bang Theory and Parks and Recreation. The Americans won 'Outstanding New Programme'.

Breaking Bad, the TV drama, which is just heading into its final 8-episode run, won top honors at this Saturday’s TV Critics Association Awards. The show won for program of the year among a number of highly acclaimed and successful TV productions, some of which don’t typically get recognized by the Emmys.

Breaking Bad emerged as the topic of the night.

Game of Thrones was another one of the night’s biggest winners, taking the honor in the category of best drama, while Big Bang Theory and Parks and Recreation had to split the title of best comedy. Tatiana Maslany of BBC America’s Orphan Black and Louis CK of FX’s Louis were both recognised as outstanding achievement in the drama and comedy categories, respectively, while Barbara Walters received the career achievement award. For Walters, the award comes right on the heels of her announcement that she will be retiring from broadcast journalism in a years time. This was probably why the TV Critics Association chose his particular time to honor Walters with the distinction.

But how realistic and re-creatable are these feats? Fans still have another eight episodes of Breaking Bad to keep them company on cold and lonely nights, but for stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, as well as the rest of the Breaking Bad team, the experience is all but over. Cranston is particularly sad to see it go, because for him, playing the teacher-turned-drug-lord Walter White was the experience of a lifetime.

Breaking Bad’s final season… now that deserves a toast. No, of course it’s not a good thing that one of the best examples of TV writing will be gone from everyone’s lives soon, but the team, who worked hard on each of BB’s six seasons, definitely deserves a toast. Which is exactly what they got at the Wednesday premiere of the final eight episodes. There was champagne and blue meth candy aplenty (the latter is an actual thing, not an inappropriate euphemism). Add to that the classy entrance that the cast made in Walt and Jesse’s iconic RV from the show, and you’ve got yourself a (slightly disturbing) Breaking Bad theme party.

Champagne was the only intoxicant at the party.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the party, including the yellow smoke, coming out of Jesse’s (Aaron Paul) tailpipe as the RV pulled in front of the Kim Novak Theatre on the Sony Lot. If that’s not arriving in style… But the white RV, which has been privy to so many misdeeds throughout the course of the show, was actually used for good this time, as Bryan Cranston used it to raise over $400 000 for The National Center For Missing And Exploited Children, by giving donors the trip of a lifetime (no pun intended) to the Breaking Bad premiere. The stars also hinted at the conclusion of this season – nothing will be left unaddressed and the fans will be satisfied with the ending, that seemed to be the general opinion.

So to see that hulking great piece of metal cruise on up – driven by none other than the show’s star, Bryan Cranston – at the premiere of the Breaking Bad special screening at Sony was a real treat. This was a celebration of the last eight episodes of season five, which are due to air on August 11th.

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston found a novel way to mingle with fans and explore the stalls of the San Diego Comic Con International; by wearing a mask that is the exact replica of your own face. Cranston donned a bald, goateed latex mask as he navigated the San Diego convention, and no-one was any wiser that the guy who was dressed up as Walter White at Comic Con was actually Walter White himself.

This year 'smart' dramas Homeland, Mad Men and Breaking Bad dominate the Primetime Emmy Award nominations yet again and even for fans of the TV shows, it will be hard to predict which of their favourite series will carry off the most gongs. The Hollywood Reporter's Stacey Wilson highlights just how highly contested this year's 'best drama' category is: "If you win this year, it's going to be a real feather," she said to ABC News. The nominees list for each category is decidedly hefty but we've identified the ones that are toughest to call.

Bryan Cranston Voted Best Actor?

Having never won an 'outstanding drama' Emmy before, it looks like Breaking Bad could finally scoop the big gong this year having picked up five Primetime Emmy's before; 3 'best actors' for Bryan Cranston, 2 'best supporting actors' for Aaron Paul. With the first half of its final season currently airing, it looks like this could be the last chance for the show, as popular as ever, to scoop the night's biggest award. Downton Abbey, whilst having previously looked strong, has endured harsh reviews in its third season meaning it will be interesting to see whether this has had any impact on the voters.

The Primetime Emmy Award nominations will be announced on Thursday (18th July). Speculation surrounding the awards is high, with Netflix's Arrested Development predicted to triumph. The awards will be announced by Kate Mara and Aaron Paul.

Breaking Bad will finally come back to our screens on August 11th. We knew that; any fan of the show knew that, but this tantalizing new teaser poster – the first of its kind from AMC, for this show anyway – has really hit it home. Breaking Bad is coming back, on August 11th. Shall we say it again?

If you don’t know what Breaking Bad is about, then you probably shouldn’t be reading this article, as a) you’ve got loads of work to do, and b) SO MANY MASSIVE SPOILERS. The poster, which exhibits the show’s trademark green and smoky style, as well as their use of the periodic table for “Ba” in “Bad”. No explicit mention of the show, but true fans will know instantly, and non-believers will want to find out. "We're trying to enshrine these shows in a way that is meaningful, and really make sure (their final runs) are television events," says AMC chief Charlie Collier, who will be saying goodbye to Mad Men next year after seven seasons. "We think they will stand the test of time and never be forgotten."

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has married his long-time girlfriend Lauren Parsekian at a ceremony at Cottage Pavilion at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu on Sunday (May 26, 2013), according to Us Weekly. The couple were photographed embracing under a pretty swish looking ivy-draped archway, over at People.com.

Parsekian, the co-CEO of Finding Kind Productions, wore a strapless corseted Armsale gown with pearls, while husband Aaron wore a Burberry tuxedo and custom bow tie. The wedding was a 1920s carnival inspired affair, with a Ferris wheel, swing ride and photo booth, while  blues musician John Mayer played live. Renowned magician David Blaine performed tricks for guests under a traditional red-and-white striped tent.  "Well that was the most magical night of my life," said Parsekian in an Instagram post from the evening. "A day will never go by without me reminding you how special you are. Thanks for last night my pretty little bird," Paul captioned a picture on the photo-sharing site.

The pair first met at the Coachella music festival, with Paul proposing during a Parisian vacation on New Year's Eve 2012. He stars as meth dealer Jesse Pinkman alongside Bryan Cranston in AMC's Breaking Bad. It returns on August 11, 2013 for the final season.

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Lauren Parsekian, with the two getting hitched in front for friends and family at the Los Angeles ceremony. According to People, the two married in Malibu this weekend in modest and intimate surroundings. No word on whether there was any blue meth getting handed out at the ceremony.

Paul and Parsekian first met at Coachella Music Festival in 2010, getting engaged on New Years Eve/Day in January 2012. Last year Paul gave a gushing interview to GQ about his then fiancé, explaining the whole proposal in detail. "It's this little courtyard outside of this hotel. We were just dancing to Édith Piaf by ourselves on New Year's and then I begged her to marry me," he said. "She's the greatest woman that has ever existed. No offense to other women on this planet, but she is hands down the best."

Aside from the actual wedding ceremony, the pair were spotted out in Las Vegas last week with friends, celebrating what seemed to be a pre-wedding shindig. Last weeks gathering even included a tribute to the fateful night in Paris, with the bride and groom-to be receiving their own engagement cake, with Paul's including the special message (his alleged words from the night), "My pretty bird, thank you for loving me."

If you know Jesse Pinkman as well as we do, then you’d think he wasn’t likely to settle down anytime soon. But alas! He has! You also need to know that this article is full of massive spoilers.

Alright, so Jesse Pinkman hasn’t tied the knot. He won’t be ready for a while, if ever, and is still getting over Jane Margolis, who died in season 2 of an overdose. No, it’s Aaron Paul, the genius behind Pinkman, that got married. "It's this little courtyard outside of this hotel. We were just dancing to Édith Piaf by ourselves on New Year's and then I begged her to marry me," he said. "She's the greatest woman that has ever existed," he adoringly told GQ last year. "No offense to other women on this planet, but she is hands down the best." Parsekian is co-founder of the Kind Campaign, a project that works to end girl-against-girl bullying. She and Molly Thompson founded the organization in 2009 while they were students at Pepperdine University. "Aaron rocked a bow tie, and Lauren donned a veil," an onlooker told PEOPLE. "The lovebirds were dancing and canoodling."

Aaron will be returning to screens in August as Breaking Bad reaches its much-anticipated conclusion with the second half of season 5. And we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next having established himself in AMC’s drama.

The Simpsons are doing Breaking Bad once again in this week’s episode. The Fox series is paying tribute or poking fun – take your pick – of the AMC drama, now in its final season. Of course, no drugs are actually featured in the opening credits video for The Simpsons. Instead, Marge dons a “Kiss the Cook” apron and goes into her lab... err... kitchen to cook up some blue cupcakes. She then sells them to the neighborhood kids, while Homer lurks suspiciously in the background, wearing Walter White’s trademark black hat. It’s all very suspicious and probably delicious. The entire sequence is set to Tommy James and The Shondells’ Crystal Blue Persuasion and, when the camera pans away, we see Bryan Cranston's Walter White and Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman in their lab suits watching the animated show on their own couch.

And this is how we know that Breaking Bad is legit. Emmy awards? Please. A show is only successful after The Simpsons have made fun of it. Now we can all finally relax and watch the fifth season in peace.

What a time to be alive it is for Aaron Paul. Not only did he win an Emmy Award last night for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series, but he's also set to marry his beautiful fiancée Lauren Parsekian. The 33 year-old Breaking Bad star gushed to People Magazine on the red carpet yesterday (September 23rd) "She's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me." Continuing to enthuse about the forthcoming wedding, Paul said "[I'm not nervous] at all. I'm just so blessed."

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards kicked off last night, and there were some surprises and with Homeland winning best drama. Modern Family also picked up best comedy, but everyone knew that would happen

Some expected Breaking Bad to sweep up, and others predicted that Mad Men would take the crown for an incredible fifth time. As it turned out, the terrorist drama/thriller Homeland took home the top prize. And the show's stars didn't miss out either, with Claire Danes and Damian Lewis both winning the best actress and best actor awards for their performances in the show. It was a great night for Showtime, as everyone (including us) expected the explosive end to season 4 of Breaking Bad to be a shoe-in for the big awards. Aaron Paul, who depicts Jesse Pinkman in AMC's meth drama did win best supporting actor, though.

In a more predictable turn, Modern Family scooped up the best comedy award. The ABC laugh-a-minute comedy, which hits screens again with a new series starting September 26th, picked up a further three prizes, with both supporting actor prizes and the writing award to make it four for the night. Whilst Jim Parsons was widely expected to win the best actor in a comedy award, his performances as Sheldon Cooper on Big Bang Theory being so popular, it wasn't to be, and Jon Cryer of Two And A Half Men was named winner. "Something has clearly gone terribly wrong," Cryer joked.

The 64th Annual Primetime Emmys kicks off this Sunday (September 23rd) and what better way to spend a Friday night than trying to predict who’ll walk home with the big prizes? None. There’s none, apart from maybe watching some of the shows nominated.

The headline this year will be Breaking Bad v Mad Men, and all things considered, it looks like Walter White v Gus will snatch it for Vince Gilligan’s meth-lord drama. Breaking Bad has been somewhat of a revelation since Mr White first approached Pinkman to propose a small time meth empire, but it’ll be fondly remembered in TV lover’s hearts as one of the greatest shows to ever grace a box-set. Contact Music predicts Breaking Bad to break Mad Men’s spell, halting the 50’s advertising magnate’s quest for a 5th Primetime Emmy.

Elsewhere in the drama category are; Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones and Homeland, and you can guarantee that HBO’s prohibition crime drama will clean up on any set design, make up and costume categories. Claire Danes should pick up Outstanding actress in a drama for her startling role in terrorist thriller Homeland, whilst we tip Bryan Cranston to make it a special evening for AMC by picking up his fourth Emmy award for the male award.
