AC DC star Malcolm Young's family has confirmed the rocker is suffering from dementia.

Reports surfaced last week (ends28Sep14) the guitarist had been admitted to the Lulworth House care facility in Sydney, Australia to receive treatment for the condition and his family is now speaking out about the rocker's health.

A statement to People.com reads: "Malcolm is suffering from dementia and the family thanks you for respecting their privacy."

In April (14), the group informed fans Young would not be returning to the band, so he could focus on his health.

Brother Angus and his bandmates are preparing to release their new album, titled Rock Or Bust, in December (14). The project will be the first in the band's history not to feature Young.
