It was always going to be an emotional event, coming six months after the city saw the nation's worst mass shooting in history, but the artists did the occasion proud.

The 'Vice' singer was up against Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris for the award, the latter of whom took home New Female Vocalist of the Year. But naturally it was Miranda that took it home, as the first of two awards for her that night.

Taylor Swift Shines In Golden Dress At ACM Awards, But Fails To Land Trophies

Taylor Swift ACM Awards

Taylor Swift managed to steal the show at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards held last night (April 7), before it had even begun as she shone in a gorgeous, golden Dolce & Gabbana dress that ensured that all eyes were on her as she waltzed down the red carpet at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Despite dressing to impress, her last minute attempt to win over the judges must have fail because the only gold she saw over the rest of the night was part of her D&G gown.

In all, Taylor was up for four gongs on the night, but despite her massive huge fan based and the massive success of her last album, Red, the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' songstress failed to win over the ACM judges. The Female Vocalist of the Year crown was snatched by Miranda Lambert, but the biggest shock of the night was when the Entertainer of the Year award was handed to Luke Bryan over Swift, Lambert and other favourite Blake Shelton. The other two categories she was nominated in, Album of the Year and Video of the Year, were won by Eric Church and Little Big Town respectively.
