Have you gotten over the departure of Edgar Wright from Marvel’s Ant-Man yet? Probably not, but the studio is keen to keep moving forward on the film and now Variety reports they may have found a new director to take the helm, Anchorman's Adam McKay

Adam McKayCould Adam McKay fill Edgar Wright's Ant-Man shoes?

McKay is best known for his partnership with Will Ferrell, directing the comedian in films such as Anchorman, Talladega Nights and Stepbrothers. The duo also co-founded the hugely successful 'Funny or Die' website together.

Of course McKay also has experience working with Ant-Man lead actor Paul Rudd who also starred in the Anchorman movies. Alongside Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Pena are also confirmed to be part of the upcoming movie.

Last week, Marvel announced the exit of Wright from the project due to ‘creative differences’ with the studio. The movie had been originally planned to begin shooting June 2, but it was delayed after Marvel head Kevin Feige ordered rewrites on Wright’s script. Sources have since said that the new rewrites were made without Wright’s input, and he walked out after receiving Marvel's new version of the script.

The film is still slated for July 17, 2015 despite Wright’s departure, with the studio saying last week that a new director would be “announced shortly.”

McKay has just finished producing the Etan Cohen comedy Get Hard, which stars Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. His last directing credit was on the 2013 Anchorman sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

So what do you think, could Adam McKay be the new right man for Ant-Man? Or are you still crumbling a Cornetto for Edgar Wright?
