'Grown Ups 2' premiered in New York last night but what are early reviews saying?
The comedy sequel to 2010's Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, is ready to hit cinemas this summer. All of the film's stars showed up on the red carpet in New York last night at the premiere of the new movie that looks to be hilarious. According to Yahoo! Movies, Adam Sandler led the rest of the cast, including Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade and Salma Hayek, down the red carpet at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square.
Adam Sandler Plays Lenny Feder In Grown Ups 2.
Directed by Dennis Dugan, in Grown Ups 2 we'll see Lenny Feder (Sandler) three years on from the events of Grown Ups where he has moved back to his small hometown with his wife (Hayek) and kids to reunite with his old friends (Rock/James/Spade) and their families. The film will focus on the kids' last day of the school year and the inevitable mishaps and unpredictable surprises. The tagline for the film is "Just because they're a little older doesn't mean they've grown up" and certainly, don't expect any high-brow humour here.
Chris Rock At The Premiere Of Grown Ups 2.
Despite the anticipation of fans of the comedy quartet Sandler/Spade/Rock/James, Variety's Andrew Barker derides Grown Ups 2 as being "Among the slackest, laziest, least movie-like movies released by a major studio in the last decade" saying that "this sequel barely attempts to function as a piece of narrative filmmaking at all, almost immediately devolving into a hash of frantic, random incidents strung together with the slimmest sliver of coherence." Although currently unrated on Rotten Tomatoes, The Hollywood Reporter describes the Jack Giarraputo/Adam Sandler production as "loathsome" and "repellent" with "gags [that] are cartoonishly broad and afforded so little time for setup and delivery we seem to be watching less a story than a catalog of tossed-out material."
David Spade Attended The New York Premiere Of Grown Ups 2.
At this point in time, you'll be hard pressed to find a glowing critical review of the film, but already it is showing the same pattern as the 2010 original where, despite critical derision, the movie turned out to be lucrative for Columbia Pictures.
