Singer Adele beamed with delight as she received a prestigious award in Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honours List on Thursday (19Dec13).

The Someone Like You hitmaker attended London's Buckingham Palace for the formal ceremony, during which she was handed a Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Mbe) medal.

The Grammy-winning star wore a designer gown and lace veil to the event, where Charles, Prince of Wales pinned the honour on her frock and chatted with the singer for several minutes.

In Tv footage, Adele was shown smiling during the presentation before shaking the prince's hand, giving a curtsy, and erupting in laughter as she walked away.

It marked a rare 2013 appearance for the British star - she has taken a backseat from the spotlight since giving birth to her first child, son Angelo, in October last year (12).
