Adele fans were given a tiny taste of what’s to come from the singer on Sunday evening, when a 30 second clip featuring a new track playing during an ‘X-Factor’ ad break. It’s Adele’s first new material in three years and comes ahead of her third album, which is expected to be released later this year.

AdeleAdele has teased her first new song in three years.

Adele herself didn't actually feature in the advert, but the voice was unmistakably that of the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ singer. The simple clip featured white text of the song’s lyrics against a black background.

The 27-year old could be hear singing, "Hello, it's me, I was wondering if after all these years, you'd like to meet to go over everything. They say that time's supposed to heal ya but I ain't done much healing."

Adele’s third album is one of the most anticipated records in recent years, but is shrouded in secrecy. The release date is still unknown, however the recording is reported to have been finished. There’s also no title yet, but it is tipped to named 25, following on from her previous releases 21 and 19.

Her last single release was 2012’s ‘Skyfall’, the theme to the Bond film of the same name. This year she reportedly turned down millions to come back to Bond and record the theme to Spectre, which ended up be done by Sam Smith.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper earlier this month, "Adele was James Bond himself's first choice. Daniel Craig was really keen and (director) Sam Mendes was 50/50 over whether to use her or a fresh voice. Filmmakers were prepared to offer millions but Adele was never up for it.”

Adele is also not expected to be hitting the road once her third album is released. In August the Sunday People reported that she had turned down millions for an arena tour, instead choosing to stay at home with her son.

“The album may be coming out, but at this moment in time there are absolutely no concrete plans for a tour. In fact people at the label admit they are clueless whether Adele will tour at all,” a source told the newspaper. ”It’s understood she is not keen to travel around the world with her son as she adores her quiet family life away from fame and fortune.”
