It’s been two years since Adele released ‘Skyfall’ and frankly the music business misses her. But rumour has it, the singer could be about to come back to the pop world, and unexpectedly drop a new record. But what do we know about the singer’s very top secret third album?

AdeleCould Adele be about to release her third album?

Adele has been doing all she can to make sure no one finds out much about her highly anticipated third album. Never one to behave like everyone else on planet pop, the singer has kept quiet about her rumoured future release, but it’s only made us even more intrigued. The closest we’ve got so far to having any word from the woman herself, is a cryptic tweet sent out last month which read, ‘Bye bye 25... See you again later in the year x’.

Adele broke onto the pop scene in 2008 with her debut album 19. She then followed it up three years later with 21, which would go on to sell over 26 million copies worldwide by 2013. Last month, the singer celebrated her 26th birthday, so if the rumours are correct her album would have been recorded when she was 25. You see where we’re going here with that tweet, Adele likes naming her albums after the age she was when they were recorded. So we're guessing 25 is next.

In February, the rumour was that Adele and Prince had been working together on tracks for her new album. But later a representative for the purple one denied the claims. However another pop legend, Phil Collins, has confirmed that he’s been working with the singer. He told a Florida newspaper earlier in the year, “I've just started to work with Adele. She contacted me to write together."

All had been quiet on the Adele album front, until the Daily Star published a story last week, claiming the release of ’25’ was imminent. A source told the newspaper: "The album is written, recorded and finished. Theoretically it could be released tomorrow if she wanted.” Adding that "The plan is to release internationally on iTunes as a complete surprise without any previous promotion or build-up publicity campaign.”

So will Adele end up doing a Beyonce? We can certainly imagine so. If there’s one person who really doesn't need too much promotion it’s Adele. Over the past three years she’s pretty much single handedly resurrected the record buying market thanks to her massive album sales. If a new Adele album was to drop tomorrow, people will buy it, no questions asked. So keep your eyes and ears open, because the next offering from Adele could appear at anytime and we’re guessing she’s not going to give us a heads up.
