Alec Baldwin wants to concentrate on his love life rather than his political ambitions.

The '30 Rock' star has previously said he would one day like to consider running for the post of Mayor of New York and while he would still like to do this, at the moment he wants to devote his time and energy to girlfriend Hilaria Thomas.

The actor - who is set to leave '30 Rock' next year - said: "It's the old adage you'd hear from people who are interested in politics; I would like to be the mayor, I don't know if I want to run for mayor. Running for mayor and being the mayor are two completely different things, and my life is changing: I'm going to do the show for another year, and beyond that, I've got a woman in my life, my girlfriend who is very important to me."

Alec - who, at 53, is 26 years Hilaria's senior - says there is a lot of pressure that comes with being mayor and isn't sure he wants all that worry.

Referring to the recent hurricane which recently swept America's East Coast and was set to cause huge damage to New York before being downgraded to a tropical storm, Alec said on 'The Late Show': "Would I rather be handcuffed to the emergency command centre in Maspeth during a hurricane, holding down the fort and making sure all the ploughs are working... or would I rather spend some of that '30 Rock' money travelling the world with my girlfriend?"
