Alec Baldwin has quit Twitter, which will disappoint digital fans of the star.
Alec Baldwin has vowed never to return to Twitter after deleting his account last week for an expletive filled rant directed at Daily Mail reporter George Starker. The '30 Rock' actor took exception to the journalist's claims that his wife Hilaria Thomas was tweeting during the funeral of Sopranos' star James Gandolfini.
James Gandolfini Has Vowed Never To Return To Twitter
When asked by Vanity Fair if he'll ever return to Twitter, Baldwin responded, "Never," adding, "I went to Jimmy Gandolfini's funeral, and when I was there I realized Jimmy Gandolfini didn't have Twitter. Jimmy Gandolfini was so beloved as a person, and he was so admired as an actor, and he didn't give a [expletive] about social media."
"I really learned a lesson at the funeral," Baldwin added. "I said to myself, 'This is all a waste of time.' Meaning it's fun sometimes, but less and less, and less. It's just another chink in your armor for people to come and kill you. I stopped and said to myself, I'm going to try where I just don't do this anymore."
Baldwin exploded at George Stark after the Mail reporter wrote perhaps the most 'Daily Mail' of all Daily Mail articles, "The pregnant yoga instructor's social media feed was full of upbeat posts while the 'Sopranos' star's friends, family and co-stars were gripped with grief at a New York Catholic church," he said, "Messages included a request for ideas about wedding anniversary presents and promotional notes about her upcoming appearance on the 'Rachael Ray' show."
James Gandolfini Did Not Use Twitter. Alec Baldwin Does Not Want To Use Twitter.
It's Complicated actor Baldwin responded by calling Stark a "lying little bitch" and a "toxic little queen," before apologizing or the language used in his remarks, telling GLAAD that his attack "had nothing to do with issues of anyone's sexual orientation." Stark's Daily Mail story has since been taken down, with some speculation that there was confusion over time zones and that Thomas wasn't actually at the funeral at the time of her tweets.
Alec Baldwin returns to the big screen in Woody Allen's latest effort 'Blue Jasmine,' arriving in theaters on July 26, 2013.
