Considering Baldwin's week is his response surprising?

Genevieve Sabourin
Genevieve Sabourin has been imprisoned for six months for stalking Baldwin.

In some respects it's not surprising Baldwin is becoming gradually more irate. He has spent the week in court, giving testimony against his stalker Genevieve Sabourin and has been plagued, even more so than usual, by hoards of photographers and journalists.

The dozens of photographers gathered outside the Baldwin's Manhattan apartment were extremely obstructive, a fact supported by two traffic wardens requesting they move on to the sidewalk so traffic could continue on its way. In footage obtained by TMZ, at least two vehicles are patiently waiting to continue on their way as photographers swarm across the road.

Incredibly, Baldwin is facing the consequences of his actions. MSNBC, on which Up Late with Alec Baldwin is aired, threatened to cancel his show. This week and next week's episodes have been taken off schedule, presumably as a result of the media outrage surrounding Baldwin. The 55-year-old actor issued a statement on the MSNBC website in which he apologised for his recent outbursts. The statement reads:

"I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have - and for that I am deeply sorry. Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward. What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behaviour like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand "Up Late" will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week."
