Alec Baldwin's alleged stalker has been jailed for six months by a New York judge. Genevieve Sabourin claims to have had a sexual encounter with Baldwin in 2010 and began harassing him via emails and voice calls two years later.
A woman accused of stalking American actor Alec Baldwin was found guilty this morning (14th November) by a judge in New York. Genevieve Sabourin, a Canadian actress, has been sentenced to six months jail time. The 41-year-old actress has already been given one month in jail for interrupting Baldwin during his testimony.
Baldwin gave emotional testimony on Tuesday (12 November).
The 30 Rock actor met Sabourin in 2000, according to reports in The LA Times, whilst working on a film together. The pair met up again in 2010 when they had dinner together: Sabourin claims the two had a sexual encounter at a hotel whilst Baldwin maintains the meeting was about her career and the two were never lovers.
It seems two years after her dinner with Baldwin; the 41-year-old actress began contacting Baldwin on a regular basis through email and telephone calls. According to Baldwin, the emails and voicemail calls became aggressive over time. Sabourin then attempted to contact him directly: at two of his homes and at the Lincoln Center in New York, where he was hosting a movie.
The actress, who has appeared in such Canadian horror films as Eternal and Saint Martyrs of the Damned, was arrested in April 2012. Sabourin had turned up at Baldwin's East Village building and attempted to gain entry, when Hilaria Baldwin asked her doorman to call the police.
Sabourin photographed outside the New York court on Tuesday (12th November), following Baldwin's testimony.
Baldwin took to the stand on Tuesday, when he gave an emotional account of Sabourin's alleged stalking activities. According to TMZ, Baldwin described Sabourin's oppressive presence in his life.
Sabourin told Judge Robert Mandelbaum, following his decision, "I haven't done anything wrong. I'm innocent." She further claimed to have been attempting to find "closure" after her alleged encounter with the Beetlejuice actor.
Baldwin, only hours after his victory in court, proceeded to indulge in one of his favourite past-times: shouting at paparazzi. The actor discovered a photographer on the street outside his Manhattan apartment. As TMZ reports, Baldwin was filmed yelling profanities at the photographer and threatening him.
Alec and Hilaria Baldwin had Sabourin arrested in April 2012 when she turned up at their Manhattan apartment.
