Alex Pettyfer is being eyed to star in an action movie with gay leads.

'The Butler' director Lee Daniels has outlined his intentions to cast the 'Magic Mike' hunk and a young black actor in a new big budget movie in which they would play a same-sex, interracial couple.

The filmmaker - known for his provocative movies such as 'The Paperboy' and 'Precious' - hopes to push the boundaries of the action genre with his new project, which he describes as an ''interracial love affair action movie''.

He added to Out magazine the movie is like '''Mr. and Mrs. Smith' but the two good-looking guys as the action heroes. ... We don't find out they're gay until the end of the movie.

''Alex Pettyfer is in it, [but] I have to find the right black guy opposite him. He's so hot, isn't he? So hot. And so aware of his hotness in a way that's so ... I love him to death.''

Daniels recently helmed White House drama 'The Butler' which stars Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey. The film has received universal acclaim and is a frontrunner for next year's Oscars.

Pettyfer is best known for his role as a male stripper in 'Magic Mike'.
